I love people who blindly bring up the 360 vs Wii in regards to number of games. The 360 had its year long dry spell, it is now far into release and has plenty of games backing it up. The Wii and the PS3 will eventually get there (unless the PS3 completely dies).

I still cannot find a Wii anywhere, they're in high demand no doubt. Could be in 2008 for the Wii consoles to be stacked.

I'm guessing you'll have a much better chance between August and October this year. It's still pretty hard to find it in stores, but you can get it on ebay or CL for a pretty small markup nowadays ($50 max).

Once november hits and the xmas rush comes in, alongside SSBM and Mario Galaxy, I'd expect it to be as impossible to find as it was last year.

Last year I predicted it'd be impossible to find in stores until March...pretty shocked it's june and still can't be easily found.

Have you tried ebay? They are selling for at or below retail last time I checked. Even better, grab a used one that someone got bored with in short order.

Interestingly enough thats what video gamers want.

Not really.. its the non-gamers that are buying up the wii. Every "gamer" that I know that has a wii hates it.

i consider myself a "gamer" and i love it. sure it does not have as good of graphics as xbox or PS3 but so far it has better games then either.

The wii is just fun to play. i do admit they need to come out iwth more games (same with the PS3).

I can have friends over and they can pick up how to play any game on the wii pretty fast.

I got one! I was in Walmart and just decided to pass through the Electronics section and they had 3! So the Walmart in Effingham, IL has 2 on the shelves if anybody is around there and looking.

I didn't buy any games with it, but Wii sports has been amazing lol! I've been playing for hours... can't wait til I get some games!

Most fun I have ever had playing video games by myself

And that proves how stupid some analysts are...

Has he ever heard of Christmas???

If supply doesn't catch up to demand by August or September, it won't be until 1st or 2nd quarter of 2008 before the shortages are over at the earliest.

Then either:

A) he doesnt know when christmas actually is.
B) he's a total flipping moron if he thinks the wii wont sell out during the holiday season.

I wouldn't say hate, but they definitely prefer a 360 or PS3. The Wii is fun but for single player or online play, the Wii gets old fast (or after you beat Zelda).

I'm specifically refering to people that I actually know in real life that have a wii and yes they hate it.

But yes, gamers in general play their wii for about 30 minutes then store it away. I personally hate Zelda games so I really have no reason to try out the system at all.

I'm a real gamer. But I also have real gamer friends. And we all enjoy playing games together. So, a Wii is great if you constantly have people around you that enjoy playing it. If you are the only person who likes it, quickly you won't like it anymore.
I don't really ever play mine, unless I have friends over. But that's perfectly fine for me. I enjoy my PS3 and PC when I don't have friends over, although I do also have a few games to play on the PS3 with others, we tend to play the Wii just because we make it so fun with the motion tracking. The PS3 actually has superior motion tracking (no sensor bar needed), but the shape of the controller makes it less feasible for use, besides for small things like shaking things off your head and steering things. Doesn't actually bother me one bit, because its still brings me into the gameplay more, and will do more as time goes on (Kojima is really hyping motion+vibration, hoping he gets his wish from Sony, with the rumors pointing to the idea that he will).

but yea, its a multiplayer console. If you have people to play it with, its fun and you won't likely lose interest. I do, however, think it could be enjoyable as a single-player console, with the right games. I do plan on picking up Zelda at some point in time. And I'll love it, guaranteed. I love Zelda games, at least, Zelda games that have held to the formula of a Zelda game. Wind Waker and Majora's Mask, did not hold to that formula, they tried to change it up to much, and realized when making Twilight Princess, that fans want the classic formula. I absolutely love Ocarina of Time, and even more loved A Link to the Past on SNES.

I picked a Wii up yesterday after work. They were OOS at Best Buy, but across the street at Target, they still had 1 left. The wife and I played into the 'wii' hours of the morning. :p

I've played the 360, watched the PS3 samuraii game at target and played the wii.

Wii is totally hot. I hate bowling ( in real life ) and zelda and I was into them totally on the wii. Mario Party 8 was sold out at target in Tampa. Gamestop was the only one with them in that part of town. Yes that kinda shows you that the Wii has massive market penetration with 'different' gamer types but that is a success story tbh.

I won't buy a 360 ( heck I gave my PS2 away over a year and a half ago and never missed it ) and the PS3 is a joke to me because of the price.

Wii has some great games coming out for it, and I'll get one when I can find one. With all the stores in town, you just can't get one unless you wait out in front of stores the MORNING they get their shipments in. And you wait in line.

I don't want a graphically superior contra, I got that with the PS2. I want fun. I wouldn't mind a mario cart wii edition or a DK wii ( swinging on a rope in first person would be way fun and if you could jump from rope to rope with two controllers... would be brilliant. )

Wii and 2 games: 240-250

Plus all the extra controllers for the Wii...

A core X box 360 and 2 games and a Memory unit is less than 200

Wow, much bigger difference here.
$520 for Premium + 2 games
$350 for Wii + 2 games

(although I personally buy most of my games used, and since the 360 is older it has a bigger selection of inexpensive used games)

A remote + nunchuk set costs $60 here vs ~$50 for an Xbox 360 wireless controller ($40 at Costco)

i am a gamer.have been since i was 2 (yes my first game play experience was at 2 using a commodore 64..ofcourse my brothers were helping me).

true gamers will appreciate the Wii. for its superior gameplay and advanced technology. and don't give me graphics as a reason that Wii is not advanced. People who hate the Wii either

a. bought a ps3 or xb360 and now regret it and are mad.
b. are dumb graphics whores.
c. are the so called HARDCORE gamers who started playing after video gaming became cool with the ps2.

As soon as people realize that there aren't many games worth playing.

Well, thats a matter of opinion, that apparently not too many share, otherwise people wouldnt be buying every damn one they make.

Of course it's opinion, but I have to agree. I was very excited with the Wii when I first got it, and I didn't really play zelda much either.

But now it just collects dust. Super Paper Mario was great but I just kind of lost interest when I was in the middle of it and haven't finished it.

My 360 gets TONS more play than my Wii.

I will say though the Wii is great when you have people over who aren't really into gaming. It's a fun machine for times like that. I've even had a Wii party that had about 5-6 couples over, and everyone was having a blast with the most basic games on it. They all loved creating their own Mii and what not.

Thing is, I rarely have Wii Parties or anything like that. The Wii is not a system to play by yourself.

Also the lineup for the Wii is looking pretty dismal for anything coming out soon.

Well, I guess it'd been the opposite for me then. I've mostly been playing single player games on it though...the 360 was collecting dust so I got rid of it, because other than gears of war, anything else worth playing is just a PC port. Which really only matters to people that have a gaming PC, but I guess I'm one of them.

You're wrong about the years releases being dismal though...theres plenty of great stuff coming out.

my poor 360 has been collecting dist too. not even my new monitor (widescreen bought specially for the 360) can tear me away from the Wii.

Yeah, I think there's something to that. Any of my friends my age who grew up while old school NES was god have an appreciation for the Wii. A lot of the games are relatively simple compared to 360/PS3 titles, but that didnt stop me from playing them when I was 6, and it won't really stop me now. A good game does not *require* complexity or crazy graphics.

Even though its arguably a kid's game, I've been having a total blast with big brain academy trying to get platinum medals in everything. It's damn near impossible and requires reflexes and quick thinking that few mortals have, but that's what makes it so damn good.

Critics look at such a game and say weak graphics, no online, etc etc, and objectively rate it with a number, but thats pretty much missing the entire point.

DING DING DING! We have a winner. Pretty much the same thought I had exactly as I was reading through the thread.

If you smell the thread very carefully you can smell the console fanboys a mile away. They always talk out of thier ass.

I game 98% on the pc. I own a Xbox, PS2, Cube and bought the Wii. The Wii is a very very kool console. I game on it occasionally just as I did on the xbox and ps2. What is really cool about the Wii is I see my wife who hated playing pc and console games, till now. I see her playing games with the kids on the Wii and they are having a blast. Thats just KICK ASS to me!

Wii haters:

--Loner teens that spend their time talking sh*t over Xbox Live while playing Halo
--Well-off 20-something men who can't stomach to show off their 70" Plasma-super-entertainment center theater with the Wii's graphics.

That's just a generalization, but I see it in many threads across tons of gaming forums. Any guy with a family, or that rare person that just takes their games a little more lightheartedly will love the Wii.

Personally, I play my Wii for fun/when I have people over. I play my PC games when I'm in a "serious" or competitive mood.

Incorrect. You can get a Wii with Sports and Heatseaker for £199.
Premium + 2 games starts at £280.

I didn't really include Sports :) (and Xbox has demo's for example)

But yes, seems it is cheaper than I said but still the difference is not that great compared to the US.

Does anyone know if I buy a Wii in the US if I will be able to use the warranty in the UK?

I got mine from a friend who in turn bought it online from an auction. Have you tried looking at any auctions? Just a suggestion. Definitely a fun system, I'm glad I bought it from him.
