The March 6th 7800 series launch will most likely use Feb's 12.2 Cats so surely they'll include improvements for 7900 series......... right?

My cards go to their proper PCI-E mode for me. 16X, 8X, and 8X. All at PCI-E 3.0. Confirmed it using the built in PCI-E test tool with GPU-Z.

Sure hope these cards are matured enough by April,i'm getting one for my birthday from the gf.

Last year for our anniversary i got a 6990 shortly after their release and all the issues cause of drivers and the extreme noise had me running, not walking back for a return.

Funny the gf asked me if the card will be as loud as that"that card you got last year" meaning the 6990,yeah it left some scar now any gpu purchase big or small and that's the first question LOL.

This is quite unacceptable, actually. We should be able to expect high caliber, efficient drivers when we spend this kind of money on these components.

We should have had WHQL drivers on day 1. We should have v2 drivers by the 1st week of March. AMD needs to get their heads out of the sand & pay attention.

It's just a reality in this industry. nVidia doesn't have downloadable WHQL drivers for their latest card either. Part of the pain of living on the bleeding edge, I guess.

Warning to all:

These releases are NOT by AMD and are hacks by the userbase at guru3d.

Do not ever, ever, EVER use "beta" drivers at guru3d. Just my word of advice, nothing good can come from using guru3d's hacked drivers.

I couldn't even get them to load anyways.

Hopefully you guys get a driver update sometime soon. Also since AMD has decided to charge premium prices now hopefully they can start to deliver premium level services such as having a driver for their flagship.

Enough with the thread crapping guys

The toilet is over in some nvidia thread. Don't crap in here.

They have drivers for their flagship. We're all just ready to start seeing performance gains in games that we play.

This would also be thread crapping. Please use the Report Post feature in the future

If you expect that, then you wouldn't have a 7900 today. You'd have it 2 months from now instead. Take your pick.

The 12.1, even 12.2 preview have been in the pipeline for a while now. You'll get your WHQL support in the 12.3s. I wouldn't worry about it, enjoy the tech you got as early as possible from AMD.

Your personal expectations are valid, for you, and I support the idea that if you feel AMD has wronged you in any way by not having support in the official driver releases yet, return the card or sell it.

Are there any game breaking issues with their current 7970 drivers?

I have had no issues at all so far other than the 7970 not waking up from sleep when oc'd using afterburner.

All games run great so far. The only reason it sucks that they haven't released new 7970 drivers is just because we all want to start seeing performance increases.

You guys know the deal...you don't really need me to explain it. It's the same multi GPU issues we've been having for years. Some of the 7970 reports I've read reported that stuttering issues were present, which is unacceptable.

It shouldn't take 6 months of driver updates to iron these things out, especially with the resources available.

I'll put my 7970s to the test this weekend & share some results.

Single card no issues. Dual card, only issue i've found is batman needs a cap...thats about it. While i'm sure some people have issues, a lot of it sensationalized.

WHQL drivers would be nice, but this likely is a MS fault. They literally take months to certify drivers. So whatever, the RC11 drivers that are released work fine for everyone i've talked to.

I really just want Skyrim to stop flashing near water

That may be a skyrim issue. I think anyway -- because I had flickering / screwed up physics in skyrim on 580 sli as well. I also had weird physics, like stuff just flying all over the place with vsync turned off. Do not mess with vsync in any shape or fashion, it will screw up the game.

Case in point: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl2kGDztuRg
