You might, or might not, want to start at the beginning of this thread. See what happens when you don't come here everyday?

I check the Socket 939 dual core prices at Newegg everyday. My mistake was not jumping on the Opteron 175 for $116 shipped. I figured it would be available for a couple days but at that price they sold out in about 24 hours. I'd wanted to see if I'd like Unreal Tournament III or not, but by the time I'd played the demo, the deal was gone! You snooze, you lose I guess.
 
Looks like I am screwed as both of my most recent (2006) builds for my so are Socket 754...

I am thinking of boosting his gaming PC performance for Christmas - any suggestions for now or should I wait a month?

I have several loose Sempron CPU's laying around too and two fair PCI-e video cards (an ATI AIW and an EVGA). Looks like I need to start looking for: memory, power supplies, CPU, motherboards, etc... 🙁
