hey all,

ive been trying to get a stable system for a while now and it just not happening. ive been using win2k for 6+ months now with no problems on my previous amd k6-2 system. but now i cant get this one to work properly. Everytime i use a 80w cable to enable ata66/100 support, i get blue screen KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED errors and IRQL_NOT_LESS errors. usually it happens while surfin the net. the stop errors usually indicate the driver being win32k.sys. ive done my fair share of formats and clean installs. my question is...is this an issue with win2k and my mobo? would it be more stable in win98(i hope i can figure it out in win2k, i hate win98) what did you guys do to get it stable in win2k? ok here are the specs...

Win2k w/sp1 and all of the critical updates.
kt7/raid tbird 900 using bios UL(tried WW with horrible HDD performance, slow boots etc)
highpoint drivers that shipped with the board...not latest as they caused me to ble screen on startup and i had to reinstall the older ones in safe mode.

Maxtor 15 gig 7200 rpm udma66 w/80w cable model # 51536U3 on EIDE 3
Samsung 6 gig 5400 rpm on EIDE 4
Generic Cdrom 44x on edie 2
I/O Magic CDRW 8x4x32 on edie 1
all of these set to master....

ISA 3comm NIC 3c509b
soundblaster live in pci #4
diamond monster fusion 16 mb in pci #2

Any thoughts? has any particular bios driver combo with the highpoint controller worked for anyone in particular? is this setup stable in win 98 per anyones experience?

tia for any info you guys have...

Win2K works fine with this mobo. Should work fine with the highpoint drivers that shipped with the board.

i dont have the kt7-raid (yet) but i've got a few friends with them and one of them had funky problems when he used differnt speed HDs.. he had a 75gxp and an old segate i believe.. he would get wierd write errors and a BSOD or two...
it might not have anything to do with your problem, just thought i'd add my $.02
