Okay, I've seen posts for the "free" offers far too many times, and heard "no it's not an MLM" far too many times, so I thought I'd post this in the hopes that some of the less intelligent will read and be enlightened.

A Multi-level Marketing scheme is anything that requires you to "recruit" people to get your desired product, for starters. The traditional forms of MLMs have been sales of such questionable products as miracle vitamins, weight loss suppliments, hell even kitchen knives. Now those aren't what we care about here. What we care about are the so-called "free" iPod/flatscreen/minimac offers. In order to get these "free" products not only do you have to complete some trial offers, but you have to get a certain number of other people to complete the offers that you recruit. Hence the "Multi-level" part.

Why are these bad? Because MLMs by nature screw over people on the lower levels. There isn't an infinite supply of people to reffer; eventually you'll run out. And the company that employed the MLM makes money without having to give out anything to those folks. Evil, evil, evil.

If you google for "Multi-level Marketing" you'll find numerous links, like this one, about MLMs and their horrible suckage.

I hope all you mouth-breathers understand what an MLM is now. No more "I didn't know" excuses; the mods are notoriously unforgiving.
