that criticism wasn't aimed at anybody in particular. Well, maybe at our AT members who are currently running benchmarks on their 5870's and refuse to give us any inside info because of some stupid "NDA". What's a little NDA between friends, right? :):)

You guys are going to crap when you see the 5870 come in well under $300 and the 2GB model come in a bit under $400. :)

MSRP of course, I can't promise a lack of retailer markups.

I'm more than sure that by Christmas 5870 1GB will be under $299 and 5870X2 will be around $480 - his is what happened every single time ATI released a new card and it makes sense, initial hype does not make profit but sustained sales do.

I've got newer slides. So either AMD made a typo on their slides, which is entirely possible, or you guys are going to be surprised. *edit* Talking to my sources it very well may be a typo. Slide removed as I don't want to present false info. =/

Lol, that slide is so badly photoshopped it's not even funny.

It's not a typo on mine. Or else they would have had to make a typo on both slides haha. Or else the 5850 and 5870 would both have the same number.

And then there's the other fact I stated about PowerColor.

It isn't photoshoped genius. Trust me, I know where the slide came from first hand via the PDF. Unless AMD is shopping their own slides, its a typo.

in the past several years ati has already released with nvidia or after nvidia. This time they are in the cat bird's seat and have a lot more leeway. They are going to price the cards as high as they can until they're given a good reason (competition from nvidia or low sales volume come to mind) to lower them. If they price them at 299 for 5850 and 399 for 5870 and immediately sell out, they will probably raise prices. If they price them at 299/399 and don't sell any then they will certainly lower prices until sales increase. I think I read about this in my econ 101 class a few years ago...

Oh you got me there... those PR slides are always so perfect looking. Thanks for setting me straight MR. Photoshop wizard...

Zomg! Silly AMD shopping more slides and jaggies, where do they come off!?! And as I've said, its most likely a typo but don't try to give some BS that their slides are shopped...

That's hardly the same, it's a bit of jaggedness from a not so good crop job. And they used images from other sources for those images. And try posting the whole image instead of a crop. And a source for those images would be great also.

On the slide you posted, the design of the elements on it are nothing like their other slides. That one is horribly put together by someone with no artistic ability, apparently named "Jason".

And also, time to take out the good ol' EXIF tool.

Nope.. No Jason. And no Jason in the many others I've tested.

The image you posted is clearly a fan made poorly done mash up. Don't know why you can't see that.

Don't know why you have to continue to prove a point in which you are clearly wrong. Obviously I screenshotted the PDF and the last two images are from it as well.

As if you are the final authority on what PDFs exist and which don't. I saved this one with Acrobat and paint but I am sure since you haven't seen it it is fake too:

Come back when you get the actual "sales deck" and having a leg to stand on

Haha, the max resolution isn't even correct on that slide.

And OMG A PDF! Oh well that makes it all the more valid.. right..

How about you post this mysterious PDF hmm? Or at least where it came from.

The mysterious PDF doesn't exist obviously, or you would have seen it, right?

Clearly it was all photoshoped, they just went above and beyond using the same slide border and everything from the original image you saw just to throw you off in some sort of elaborate ruse...

Someone wanted to trick you into thinking AMD could make a typo so they created these out of thin air in hopes that you would spread the typo word to the masses only to have them disappointed later.

Does all that sound more logical than a internal sales bundle you haven't seen with a typo on it?

I thought you were claiming the ones I posted were a typo. That was the whole reason I was arguing with you.

And it's not because I haven't seen said PDF. I merely think that they are too horribly done to be official. There are a lot of people with a lot of time on their hands who like to create fake things like this.

I don't want to steal the thunder of the 5870 and 5850, but has there been any word on the replacement for the 4350?

Yes, it's currently called 4670 or 4850 512MB and HELLUVALOT FASTER.

HINT: trickle-down effect... ;)

So why do people think ati will release the 5870 tomorrow? I haven't read this date anywhere.

edit: my bad as Hanners at Elite Bastards states "very soon". So no doubt that very soon it is. The bad news is he also stated that Dell got most of them and availability may be poor at first.

I'm looking in the 30 dollar range. :p The 4850 is still 100 dollars and the 4670 is double what I paid for my 4350.

The 3450 has 40 stream processors, the 4350 had 80. Can we expect the 5450(?) to have 160?
