Sticking moon roof

The other day I opened the power moon roof on my 03 forrester. When I got to my destination I attempted to close the roof. It ran smoothly till it hit the support brackets for the wind deflector, then reversed itself. I have made sure the track is free of debris. I have also lubricated the heck out of it with WD40.

The only way I can close it now is by pulling down on the deflector with one hand while I close the roof with the other. At the last second I pull my fingers out before the get crunched.

I just hate paying a repair shop to fix it. Any suggestions?

Heh, the sunroof in my 1990 Volvo just started doing this. My solution thus far has been to stop opening the moon roof.

My 05 Forester did the same thing. Went to the dealer a half dozen times for it. They ended up pulling the interior roof panel off and replacing/cleaning things.

Jumpem, That's what I was afraid of. I guess it's time to get a shop manual and see how bad removing the headliner is going to be. Seems like I have had many more problems with my forester compared to my CRV.
