Automatic, because I'm lazy. Its not like I'm gonna need the extra .02 seconds on my 17 sec quarter mile time anyway.

Like I said in the other thread... I've never driven a manual, and have no real desire to do so. I don't see the appeal of it, or buy the fact that it's "more fun". My car gets me from point a to point b.

What's the point of a stick shift?

I get in car, drive an hour to work, then get in car, drive an hour home.

Stick shifts are just for people who want to feel special. No reason not to get automatic. A computer can control the car better then you can. Might have not been true when auto first came out but now, unless you are a perfect shifter auto is better.

automatic is boring.... ilike to drive my dads car sometimes when i feel lazy, but i hate when you floor it and you want it to shift to a certain spot but it doesn't.. but with a manual, you can downshift and get rubber :) nothing beats it!!!

Either you're trolling, or just a jackass.

I'm split. My last car was an auto, my current one is a manual, and my next will probably be an auto. But I have zero regrets when it comes to having a manual. I'm just thinking that in another six years I'll be tired of having a clutch, and eight years after that I'll miss it. In my dad's truck, I like the stick because you don't have to worry about transmission temps when towing up grades. If a manual transmission is overheating, you've already broke something important.

For me, personally..

1; it gives me much more control of the car

2; keeps my mind on the road, keeps me focussed

3; see 1 and 2.

Just wondering. Im getting a stick shift mustang and have no idea how to drive it yet. (nothing fancy/used/little problems) Its that time for me FILLANY! I know you have to clutch it everytime you wanna slow down, go faster, park, ect. Some reason im liking the stick better than automatic.. yes i shouldnt be judging yet. Way im thinking is, "dang cant eat that big mac while driving" b/c you have to switch back gears with other hand.

heh, my dad has the 2002 mustang with the big V6 engine (model below the GT), and its a stick. It is a blast to drive for someone like me who is used to 4-bangers :p

but yah i drive a stick too, and it is way more fun to drive than an auto

Big V6??
BIG? V6??

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA

Bwahahahahahaa! My thoughts exactly!

Big V6.... hahahahahaha!

To me, driving a stick is like having an affair. It's a one time fun thing. But for the long term, an automatic is the way to go.

Auto: Car = A -> B

I don't give a damn if I'm the first person off the line at a red light.

Most of you saying auto's are for the lame crack me up.

Wow your little Nissan's and Neon's have what a 2" clutch to push in, and a throw so short you can use your pinkey finger. Pfft, the manuals today are basically push button tranny's they are so easy, after owning my 69 3/4 ton for so many years I about put my foot through the floor on my first Civic the clutch spring was so light and so short. Hell the clutch springs today are prolly smaller then my throttle spring was back then :p

The gearbox in my 1967 Ford Anglia had a hydrualic clutch :(

The gearbox I'm putting in in it's place, from a 1978 Ford Escort, has a cable clutch :(

Why, Ford, Why!?

LAUST-

Funny, made me remember getting out of the Diamond Rio I used to drive and almost putting the clutch through the floorboard in my '63 Impala. Clutches on those 327s werent too easy to push in either. :D

I think, for a daily driver, and a person who is not a car enthusiast, an auto would be better.

For a performance car, and one who goes autocrossing and such, a manual would be better.
