**LOL**
30+ years ago she was a bag. Hey I've got an idea........ Bag meet Bag! Paper and Plastic TOGETHER!
I still cannot understand why people like her so much and flock to her gawdy shows. She was born with a dog face and a dog voice and walks like she owns everyone while singing as if she knows how.

As for Barbara, she's just another idiot Democrat who makes the rest of us look bad. If there's one thing I hate more than a conservative, it's a stupid liberal.

I have to agree here. Anyone who goes to see Barbara knows they're going to get a hot steaming plate of hate.

It was turning his own underlying right wing bigotry back on him, I'm no homophobe by a country mile.

However, YOU, wiggy, like to cry and bitch and moan at every conceivable opportunity.

And you think most peeps don't see that you are a mall rent-a-cop wannabe with a deep, envious jones for the real thing?

Turn in your plastic hall montor badge. AND the sash. Everyone knows your mommy knitted it for you anyway.

You are, quite simply, pathetic.

You're gay?

WTF does that have to do with his response?

Those people have every right to be pissed... whether you are a republican or democrat, if you pay big money for her to sing, there's no reason at all to turn it into political comedy.

What if you paid to see a movie and right in the middle of it there was a political ad for all the recent candidates? The arts are for entertainment, not a soapbox. Sure, the two CAN coexist, but this is an example of a piss-poor integration of the two.

The words "underlying theme" are nowhere to be hinted at.

GoPackGo is NOT a fan of Streisand, he is a right-winger taking a snipe at her disguised as "paying customer" outrage.

ANY TRUE FAN of Barbara Streisand, and, like it or not, they are legion, would not be in the least upset about her bringing that Bush impersonator out.

And not YOU, not GoPackGo, nor anyone else, get to tell Streisand or her fans otherwise.

Tu as compris?

I disagree. Often the arts provide an opportunity to make a statement, and she has every right to make that statement. It is her show. She could stand there for 3 hrs scratching her butt if thats what she wanted to do.

Getting mad because she made a political statement would be the same as going to an art gallery and being angry that some of the pieces dealt with a patriotic or nationalistic subject matter.

She does not tour. Her shows are very vew. Most folks pay the money to be entertained. Aside from Fox News, even papers like the NY times showed that they too were not entertained. As a public figure, yes they have the normal rights that citizens enjoy in which they can express their own opinion freely. However, as a performer performing a show where people expect you to sing (which is what the billing touted) she had an obligation to perform just that.

If she does not perform the way her audience expects her to, then people will not go to her shows. But again, she performs very little so while others feel relieved that the show sucked and that they saved their cash, it does little to comfort those that did spend the money and did receive what they expected.

Streisand's type of music has never been my personal favorite but the woman does have a nice voice, she's also naviagted her life on her terms from what I can see. Nothing wrong with that imho.

If the audiences are not entertained, they will soon stop buying tickets to her show. Free market economy in action.

You act like she didn't do any singing at all. From what I gather, she only brought the Bush impersonator up for one skit. How did the paying people not recieve what they expected? If anything they got more for their money. Along with the singing came a comedy routine. ;)

Disagreeing with her message doesn't mean that it's not entertainment.

If (for god knows what reason) I was there, I might probably would have found it amusing.

I think people need to read the NY Times article and decide for themselves if they missed something worht that amount of money or not. Beside the flat comedy, they also dinged her for using a boy band as backup singers. Still, your opinion is your own and no one should ever have the right silence it.

But they do have they own right to laugh at it.

Yeah, but like I said, the two can coexist, but at the point when she stopped singing and went in to some sort of comedy routine, she was failing to do what she was being paid to do.

In my eyes it would be no different than going to an art gallery and seeing the same political signs you see along roadways hanging up in place of paintings. By some people's opinions in this thread, not only would that be perfectly accepted, nobody would have the right to bitch or be taken aback by it.

People came to hear her sing, not share her political views through comedy sketches, and it doesn't matter what your political affiliation is, if you like her music you'd still go to her show. So when you get put in that sort of situation where you expect to hear he sing and then have to listen to her voice her political opinion for (as the article says) a lengthy amount of time, then OF COURSE people are going to share their opinions right back. It's like not being able to talk in an argument. How can you argue with someone as a member of a HUGE crowd when the person you are arguing with is front and center, on stage, with a microphone and lights on her?

It just wasn't right of her to use the audience's desire to hear her sing as an excuse to voice her opinion. Write to the newspaper like everyone else does. People didn't spend hundreds of dollars to hear her political views. Maybe if this were Rage Against the Machine, but sure as hell not Barbara Steisand.

We'll have to agree to disagree.:)

IMO, people paid to see her "perform," and unless they have a signed contract stating that she must sing x amount of minutes at the show, that performance should be of her choosing. As I stated before, if people begin to feel that the entertainment they recieve isn't what it should be, they'll stop going. Simple as that.

Regardless of what the NY Times article says, I'd be willing to bet that plenty of people were still having a great time.

She told him to "Shut the (expletive) up!" The crowd applauded wildly.

yeah, probably because she said "Shut the fsck up!", not because they agreed.

But I'll settle for an agree to disagree.

And you wouldn't pay big bucks to see her if you didn't know something about her, so you shouldn't be surprised at the skit. She has always been politically outspoken. So did these hecklers take a wrong turn on the was to a Rush Limbaugh appearance? Oh, my bad - Rush isn't touring.
