Now Stevia is my favorite noncaloric sweeten as I notice no aftertaste at all and the fact I'm Type 2 Diabetic. So far I have only used this in my coffee and plain oatmeal, and hot dark chocolate. Of course I'm looking for other foods to use this in as well.

Considering that Stevia is widely used in some South America counties well before the first white dudes showed up there and that Japan has been using this for many decades, I am highly surprised that the FDA still hasn't approved GRAS status. What is the hold up?

I've used stevia a lot when doing low carb meal plans.

It's widely available in all grocery stores where I live.

Lower profit margins on substances which exist naturally?

Just a guess .... ;)

Having said that, I rarely eat sweets aside from an occasional jelly donut and I really don't like any artificial sweetner.

Well Stevia is supposedly much easier to grow then pot... But I don't know about to the point of being an actual weed.

it tastes so gross, id rather drink water then anything sweetened with artificial sugar.
Honestly, once you've really gotten used to drinking water, soda loses a lot of appeal, sugar or no. I very rarely drink it these days. Doubt it's more than 24oz per year.

what is Allulose?

It's a newer fake sugar replacement:

Available on Amazon:

I had a family member staying with me for a few months who was sugar sensitive, so I tried out pretty much everything on the market over ten weeks or so to accomodate them & see what was out there for low-carb options. I don't like Stevia at all, can't stand the aftertaste especially. Not real fond of monk fruit. Sucralose is pretty decent. Allulose is surprisingly good...not quite as sweet as sugar, but very similar, so you have to adjust your recipes as required. I made some mini cheesecakes with it & they were pretty decent!

I'm not real fond of fake sugars in general, especially in diet sodas, but Sprite Zero tastes really close to regular Sprite, and Fresca Original is actually pretty dang good! Polar makes some really good diet sodas...they're not perfect, but you get used to the taste pretty quickly. I compiled a list of pretty good low-carb options here:

It's grown since then, but overall I was pretty impressed with how far things have come. There's a lot of surprisingly good-tasting options on the market for sugars & other sweeteners like water enhancers & sodas, and even stuff like Allulose for baking!

You could get flavored teas, which many fast food places serve.

I prefer sucralose over aspartame.

But PC brand No Name Diet Ginger Ale bloody rocks! It contains aspartame but tastes great.

I actually don't hate the taste of Aspartame but it gives me a headache every time I consume it, even in smallish amounts.
