I have not tasted a single sugar substitute that actually tasted like sugar or even tasted "sweet" to date. And I've tried almost all of them.
What the hell is wrong with using sugar?

Calories and insulin release. I'm guessing you don't have diabetes.
I don't have diabetes, but I definitely see the need in cutting back on real sugar intake. Our body is not at all designed to consume as much sugar as we do on a daily basis. What we consume in a day can be more than our body should have in a week, if not far longer.
Not to mention, cutting back on sugar and eating less of it throughout the day, along with cutting back on simple carbohydrates, will definitely benefit energy levels throughout the day, and help prevent drowsiness. The body acts fast when it comes to sugar, and the following biological reactions are something we should all desire to minimize.
But see, I don't just desire to "live" and get by. I seek returning my body to an optimum level, peak physical condition. The right nutrition alone can definitely help keep the body ticking the way it should, with healthy HDL/LDL/trig levels, blood pressure, and the condition of muscles and tissues.
Seriously, high sugar and low fatty acid intake (or high omega 6s and 9s and low omega 3s) does a terrible number over the course of decades. Being at age 40 or 50 and plagued by body issues is something I'd like to avoid.![]()
We're talking about strawberrys. Have some perspective about the issue. I defy you to find any person who suffers from health complications because they put too much sugar on their fruit.
Why fudge up a perfectly good combination with some weird fake sugar crap? There are so many other areas of the average diet where you can cut out sugar that would have a much more dramatic effect on diet then a few tablespoons or teaspoons of it over berries.
Well it tastes just like sugar to me except it comes from a different plant. I enjoy sweet things but had intentionally avoided them because of the sugar. Now I don't have to which rocks. Sweet tea, fruit, whatever. I just wish that everything that uses sugar would make the switch and I'd actually drink soda again.
That makes sense for high calorie foods. And not that I got this from your post, but the general attitude that sugar is bad is annoying.
From a personal taste perspective nothing is an adequate substitute for real sugar. Somebody made me cookies with that sucralose crap the other day and I had to ask what I had done that made them ruin perfectly good cookies. Hate me all you want, but dear god don't take it out on the cookies.
