What movie did you just watch of his?
Amistad.
Yeah, too bad they left out the part where when Cinque went back to Africa he owned slaves.

So what? Might sour the STORY somewhat, but the MOVIE is still great.

Exactly, no fact-based non-fiction movie ever depicts what happened perfectly, otherwise none of them would be good movies. The story he told through those true events are what you need to pay attention to, not what he decided to leave out even though it really happened.

He does own indeed.

"We have our own version of the ending that neither strays nor mimics the original book. So I think we've hit a very satisfying compromise."

Actually, Stephen Spielberg is a "Jew", but they're both three letters so I can see how you would make the error.

As for his movies, I will grant that the majority of them are above average, but average has become so terrible these days that that is no great feat. I still put many directors (Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Stanley Kubrick, Tim Burton, Ridley Scott, to name a few) well ahead of him in talent and inventiveness.

Tarantino is probably the one of the grittiest directors ever, and I think his stuff is excellent, but he's kind of fallen into a rut. I want a film from him that does not involve gangstas. Kill Bill was a step in the right direction, but I want him to majorly change gears and direct a sci-fi flick, or a war epic, or something like that.
