Steve Jobs takes a 5 month "sick leave"

What could this mean? I mean we are seeing what Apple is without Steve, Phil Schiller does keynotes, Tim Cook runs the company. His health concerns are more complicated than he had thought. If it really is life threatening he will have to disclose that information to shareholders.

Bummer. I just heard a piece on NPR this afternoon about a book concerning the collapse of the record industry, and the guy they had on kept talking about how hard Steve Jobs pushed the record companies to agree to the iTMS (I think he used the term "railroading" 😉 ).
I guess it just made me realize how much Apple needs/depends upon Steve, even more than on a symbolic level. Although I do agree that his health definitely comes first. Get well soon Steve!

Look's like he will be back for the launch of the iPhone Nano and the new iPhone Pro (Quad-Core CPU, NVidia GPU, 32GB).

lol, j/k.

Best wishes to you Steve and your family!

I wish him nothing but the best. I do think he will be back, but in limited capacity compared to how things are run now.

My gut feeling is that he won't survive this leave of absence, though I hope he does. I've always liked him, and wish him well.

He should retire. He's getting old and needs to spend time with his family.

He's only 53!

I'm 27 and would retire tomorrow if I could.
Sure, but just because you want to retire doesn't mean you're old. Maybe Steve should spend time with his family, but not because he's in any way old.

"Two people who are familiar with Mr. Jobs?s current medical treatment said he was not suffering from a recurrence of cancer, but a condition that was preventing his body from absorbing food. Doctors have also advised him to cut down on stress, which may be making the problem worse, these people said."

Do any other CEOs publish detailed health reports on a regular basis?
