Steve Jobs on netbooks a year ago

Not for someone who wants a real keyboard like me. Tablets may be sexier, but netbooks are more usable.

No one stopped caring about netbooks. People still use them and they are still being produced. Its just not the new hotness anymore.

I'm not saying its not nice. The thing is the Mercedes of netbooks. But it is a netbook.

Yup, it's just a super expensive netbook.

People always think whatever Jobs says it right. He only says those things that will help him sell more products. His keynotes are always full of lies. Jobs is the #1 reason why I hate Apple. He is the biggest douche of them all.

How are they not cheap Laptops? of course he was right and that fad is passing obviously. They were popular cause they were cheaper, smaller, lighter...and Steve missed out on that multi million dollar fad like a dumass.
Everything in technology is a fad cause its constantly evolving as well as consumer needs. All Steve did was let that money boat float away in between the time the Iphone was released up to the Ipad....such a waste.

quibbling over terms.
what is a netbook, it has come to mean an atom based device that compromises usability for price and size.
mac book air is more like the old style ultra portable laptop. it is very hard to classify it as a netbook.

Regardless Atom is still being produced, Bobcat is being produced netbooks are still being made and produced. Jobs is not omnipotent and I expect netbooks will continue to sell well for a few years at least.

Well then it's still overpriced and old hardware.

I like how a goof on ATOT is calling Steve Jobs a "dumass." That's funny.

moran is a better word, imo

moron or not, i'm correct in saying he was right. they were cheap laptops and i'm correct in saying he missed out on the $$$ that others like Asus done raped out of people like you and moved on.
I have not purchased either cause i know their both fads...so whos the real moron?

And all of these companies passed up on tablets and lost on $$$$$$. As they were competing against one another for a share of the netbook market, giving Apple a monopoly with the iPad and only now are they rushing to release tablets. Just like the iPhone and iPod.

Shows me that Jobs outsmarted all of these other companies to become a $300 billion company. And why would you consider them fads? People want a more portable computing device. Most people also just surf and use email. Notebooks outsell desktops now. Is that a fad too?

Apple doesn't make products to cash in on fads, they make products that last. The ipod introduced MP3 players to the masses and has lasted almost 10 years now.
Take a look at their website, you can find their whole product lineup within a few clicks. Each product is designed with a specific use, not a broad use, and meets the need it's designed for.
