I don't know of any other company where the head honcho can effectively call their customers stupid and the customers keep coming back to buy more stuff.

on the other hand its nice the head honcho doesn't spend his type spewing meaningless double talk pr speak.

You would think that people would have eventually caught on but the American public still buys anything with a shiny apple on it.

and the average atoter happily slams apple based on some anecdote.
if hundreds of thousands of iphone users are complaining then maybe you'll have a point. until then...the ugly fact is for every new product theres someone whining about it somehwere.

This reminds me the FAQ for what to do if your ipod's battery dies... from apples own website.

It said "discard your old ipod and buy a new one"

They certainly live up to their motto of being different. I would never be flat out told that by another company.

EDIT: aww, I should have saved a screenshot... it seems now they have this:
http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/#us
Ridiculous prices BTW.

Hmmm, I noticed my Nexus One did this and got shouted down...

The FCC is demanding that antennas be relocated to the bottom of the phone because of the suspicion that the RF is cooking our brains.

that is just stupid...
Radio waves can't cause cancer, its ... well actually its pretty advanced physics, organic chemistry, and biochemistry... but anyone who who got an A on those classes should be able to explain why.

Here you go: http://soviet-overlords.joeuser.com/article/362835/Cellphones_Microwaves_and_Cancer

And now you know why it can't cause cancer. If you want to understand it in more detail, I suggest you read this: http://www.amazon.com/Organic-Chemi...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1277516282&sr=8-1

Gee thats funny, the frequencies used in cell phones have no issue passing through human flesh in most other forms.

Thanks for the tech.

Question - What's going to be done about the signal dropping issue. Is it software or hardware?

Best,

Not sure why everyone says this only effects lefties. I am right handed but hold a phone in my left hand most of the time.

Did they seriously not do enough testing with this or did they just say "fuck it, they'll love it no matter what" when they saw there was a problem?

They probably decided to hold some "features" back so they can later release "Iphone 5g - now with better reception."

I'm a rightie and I hold my phone in my left hand.

It's all good though. Apple sells those 25-cent rubber/plastic bumpers for the iPhone 4. For $30, they magically restore reception to your phone.

Either that or they wanted to use it as an excuse to sell covers. If you put a cover on it to keep your skin from contacting the part where the antenna is the problem apparently goes away.

I almost wonder if part of the problem is that Apple did their testing with the 4G disguised inside a case to make it look like a different model which kept people's hands off the antenna. The 4G phone that gizmodo got ahold of had been encased in something to disguise it and that would have probably had the side effect of keeping your hands from directly touching the part of the phone that messes with reception.

Why do you even care? You don't own an iPhone, and you'd never consider buying one.

Here you go: http://soviet-overlords.joeuser.com/article/362835/Cellphones_Microwaves_and_Cancer

"So, will your microwave or cellphone give you cancer? it has less energy than visible light... so the answer is no."

Your microwave has less energy than visible light? When's the last time you cooked with a light bulb? Your easy bake oven when you were 7?

The real answer is that microwaves are not ionizing radiation. Meaning microwaves do not knock an electron out of an atom. Cellphones operate in the microwave band, and at much less power output so they are safe.

less energy per photon. not enough to do anything but be converted into heat. Obviously the quantity matters. Does your lightbulb use 1200 watts? Does it reflect all the light it emits off of mirrored walls of a small container until they hit food and are absorbed as heat by it?
