What work is done on either a smartphone or a tablet? They are devices that allow you to consume rather than create. The only way it has changed entertainment is by allowing people to cheat in pub quizzes.

/facepalm

I have apps that admin servers. I have teamviewer that allows me to remote control 6 different pcs. Entertainment - I could watch NFL games while I was in the middle of nowhere in NH last weekend.

Industries/businesses sprouted out by the iPhone. Ever hear of Android?

Tablets - ask my doctor friends that use it to track patient information and even show their patients their x-rays, MRIs, etc... And as a teaching/educational tool, a little research may open your eyes.

This thread is about Steve Jobs death. It is not about Napster or light bulbs or who invented the automobile or how much songs cost on iTunes or who's a returning banned member or who's a troll. It's not about arguing with each other (hear me Veliko and responders). I have tried to remove much of the thread derailing, thread crapping, arguing, trolling etc. Please be respectful of Jobs and of each other.

oh my.

i laughed and now i feel bad.

People take death way too seriously. Everyone dies. Death isn't a BAD thing. Sure, it's fair to mourn the loss of someone and celebrate their life. But people are WAY too touchy about death.

I laughed, and I don't feel bad. I thought it was a good joke that was very applicable to Apple. Had it started downplaying, ridiculing, or making fun of Steve Jobs and joking about HOW he died, then it would be distasteful. Other than that, it is never too soon to have a good laugh over life! I know that if I had cancer, I'd probably want people to be as lighthearted as possible about it. I joke about my misfortunes all the time. There's no point in living if you can't laugh over things like this...

Let's state this another way.

Microsoft is dedicating an entire version of Windows to tablets. That's some major gravitas. In the world of mobile computing, the tail wagged the dog. Apple stepped up and took the lead.

I thought Win8 runs on pc too?

Pirates of Silicon Valley is airing on TNT tonight.

Great flick, highly recommend that people watch this especially if they've never seen it before AND especially since a lot of the people weren't even conceived when all this began! :D

I think jokes that bring levity to the situation are okay. Dwell had a good example some pages back. It doesn't insult him, he would probably lol.

I wouldn't recommend it. It's heavily biased and drastically distorts the actual history of Microsoft and Apple.

Yea the documentary is better, I don't have particularly strong memories of the dramatization, it wasn't that good.
