The fact that the Ipad2's smart cover outsold the competitor's tablet tells you something. Whatever he was, one thing is certain the man was brilliant.

Wtf?

LOL
Soo dumb

Not a fan of apple at all but...RIP Steve Jobs, you changed computing and then you changed computing again and even though I found apple computers to be overpriced and overhyped it was your vision with the help of Steve Wozniack that helped with the following...
Bringing Computers into Classrooms(Had Apple II+, IIe, IIGS, and Macintoshs when I went to school)
Bringing computers into the home(an handed down Apple IIC was my first computer that I received back in the early 90s-Hey it was free and computers were upwards of $3000 dollars)
Ushering in an era that literally changed history.

Computers were a hobby device before Apple and while Apple never really had a foothold in the business world(while you can say Desktop publishing and Art design were revolutionized by Apple, I'd have to say that they technically followed Amiga Computers until Commodore made them go belly up) they had more of an impact in my life growing up.

I'm not a fan of Apple and that is because the fact they charge twice what a computer is worth for the same hardware as a PC, and because the IPod was notoriously unreliable when I was a service technician but for a time they were truely different up until the Power Mac G5 and that niche they gave was something that was the last of a dying breed back from the 1980s. Think Atari computers, think Amiga, Commodore, Tandy and all the platforms back from the 1980s...and then think about Apple computers and how they were truely revolutionary(Only Amiga could compete with them on a graphics and interface level). I don't like what Apple has became but looking back at them and Steve Jobs' legacy, one can look at them with Rose colored sunglasses.

RIP jobs, thanks for brining us the Personal Computer.

Wrong. Do your homework. This 'visionary' couldn't even envision a two-button mouse. An overrated marketeer who believed too much of his own hype. I'm sure his cult will hold a candle light vigil until their iPhone batteries die. Gee, do I sound crass and uncaring? I'll save my empathy for the Foxconn workers....

careful, someone might rip on your family for that

Holy fucking nonsense, I can agree that Apple was not the super innovative genius squad that some claim them to be, but this seems to be a thread dedicated to a man who died. There is absolutely no reason to sully it with your complaints about his company. RIP the man and take your complaints to another thread where it is more appropriate.

condolences are for the living. steve can't read them.

Please cut with stupid "Faxconn" crap. This goes on all the time in China. It is a China thing, not an Apple thing. The only reason you hear so much about Foxconn is because it has Apple's name attached to it. If you are so concerned about Foxconn workers, maybe you could stage a protect and not buy anything made in China. Oh you're not going to do that? Yeah, I thought so.

And I suggest you do your homework on Apple, as I see you know nothing about it. Or maybe you are just in complete denial. Steve Jobs (Apple) changed the industry and became a leader of the tech world leaving every other company struggling to catch up.

i don't understand your childish attacks on my family, but i can't imagine they fit in with this forum's rules of conduct. perhaps a moderator would be able to clarify that point.

my point in bringing up wozniak is that he was the creative genius, and someone else was the face. go to an apple store tomorrow and ask those fans about woz. i bet you can't find 10 that have ever heard of him, or care. i'm sorry i didn't effectively communicate that to you earlier. next time i'll be sure to phrase things in such a way that even a goddamned jackass like yourself can understand.

Do you know anything about Wozniak? He himself said he can't take credit for Apple's recent success starting with the iPod. That was all Steve. So let's give credit where credit is due.

This man made technology less frightening & easier to use for millions of people. His deep understanding of end users & their needs fueled innovation across the industry. His passing is a huge loss to the tech community.

RIP. I don't own any Apple products, but my first computer I played on when I was a kid was an Apple IIe, which started my love of technology.

RIP. It was not until 3 years ago that I understood and saw what Steve did. But looking back, you can see how a visionary truly can revolutionize and reinvent not only an industry, but the media and marketing around it. I see this as a great loss and I do not think a CEO will match him in my life time.

When I first saw the iPhone (the 2nd gen), I said, meh, just get a blackberry. When I finally picked one up...my first thought was..."Wow...this is years ahead of everyone else...even Blackberry." I was just amazed by how intuitive it felt. Out of the box, you already knew how to use it and customize it. There was flash and substance. It was odd to see the two go hand in hand. Even by today's standards, I still think that UI is unmatched by any competitor phone...not even Android.

Zuckerberg is a tool, but you're even more of one for thinking there is anything wrong with that quote.

Steve Jobs changed the world, he will be missed.

He did not change the world. At all.

He was the head of a company that made various devices and gadgets at the same time that other companies were making similar devices. He managed to become incredibly rich in the process.
