What kind of crap is that? They haven't even told his WIFE? Man, the media sucks...

I hope the Police get to her and give her the news before media does. Imagine being told your husband/ father is dead by a reporter with a camera shoved in your face..

RIP

Sad to see him go... I figured it would've been a snake or something (like someone else mentioned) that would do him in.

It says that he was filimg during the attack. I hope nobody releases that video onto the internet.

Sadly, it'll probably crop up.

I mean that the media shouldn't be releasing this info to the public until his family has been notified. Not even the military will tell the public until the family knows first. I don't care how "breaking" the news is, family comes first. Shame on the media.

Celebrity life is very different. When you are famous your death is front page news... screw the family. Sad but true.

Man, I am really sad right now. That guy had a showmanship and personality unlike anyone else in his field. You could tell deep down to his core he loved what he was doing. Although I can't believe he's gone, as several others have said, it was almost destiny given the amount of dangerous situations he put himself in. It only takes one time for your luck to run out...

R.I.P Steve you will always be missed. 🙁

My dad was a fan too, but I don't think he's ruined by this news.

I have met Steve at Australia Zoo last year(GF insisted that we go there, I'm glad we did), I know what a top bloke he is...but with his line of work it was bound to happen, still it is very sad.

I'm definitely saddened. I was just making light of the typo (dad = day).

Lol I'm getting so dug down over there:

-22 diggs:

"See this next week on Fox's "When animals attack... Steve Erwin!"

-3 diggs:

"Because it wasn't predictable he'd die with his finger up a shark's butt?"

-1 digg:

"Ya know it's always sad when someone dies but let's put this in perspective: the guy became famous doing dangerous and questionably valuable things. His "schtick" was not educationally required but something he knowingly did to put himself over the top. This isn't tragic. Innocent children getting killed, shot and dismembered in Iraq is tragic. 9/11 is tragic. Starvation and aids is tragic.

RIP, but to me this was natural selection. You're not going to see me petting stingrays anytime soon."

This weekend the animal kingdom celebrates a rare victory in their war against humanity. The war criminal Steve Irwin was finally, after thousands of assassination attempts, killed by a naval officer. Irwin was wanted on hundreds of counts of torture, and is known to operate a concentration camp. Camp operations are unlikely to be severely damaged.
You are very uncool. It's not nice to talk poorly of dead people. I hope you get a ban seeing how this is your second nasty statement in this thread.

Stringrays aren't dangerous. This is more of a fluke than natural selection.

RIP Steve.

This is hilarious. Let's pretend he wasn't famous and that you were all reading this article. "Man leaves family, 3 year old fatherless after sticking his thumb up a stingray's arse."

You'd all be lauging and calling for a darwin award. He's a selfish prick for continuing his antics with a family to provide for.

He gambled. He lost. There's way bigger tragedies going on a daily basis.
