anyone has pretty high damn hopes if they think the world won't parody his death in the least.

The fact that we know some idiots will do it makes it no less tasteless.
i never claimed that.

OK, and I never claimed I actually had hopes no one would parody his death. You initially said Steve wouldn't likely be offended and I simply pointed out that his family might not appreciate it. That's it. Not sure why we we off down this path.

Anyway, my point was that even if Steve may not have cared, there is no way to know what his family thinks. Especially the kids. I seriously doubt they would find any humor in the parodies. Therefore it's rather tasteless to be making Halloween costumes and such that parody his death.

It's no different than an O.J. mask. People need to find humor in death, it's natural. It doesn't make it any less tragic.

people need to find humor in death? the guy died not less than a week ago, i understand that you think it's funny he was killed by a stingray barb but the man had a wife and children. imagine if your father had died, would you find it funny if morons were dressing up as your dead father for halloween?

Although I can't believe he's gone, as several others have said, it was almost destiny given the amount of dangerous situations he put himself in. It only takes one time for your luck to run out...

R.I.P Steve you will always be missed. :(

I can't believe he is dead also :(

If it's a "swim with the rays" thing in the ocean, those rays are used to interacting with humans, and don't raise their tail. And the ones you pet at aquariums have the barb removed or clipped.

Check this guy's story out who got 'stung' by one: Stingray encounter still painful memory

I'd probably see him more in death than life then, so sure, I'd love it. :)

I think its interesting that Steve's death will certainly end up as the story of the year. No amount of war or foiled terrorist plots or anything has seemed to captivate an entire world like Steve's death has.

It goes to show that while the world is at a point in history that is defined by war - human nature still puts love and compassion before anything else. Steve made everyone feel carefree when they watched him. While we never actually thought it or said it, Steve made us all feel somewhat relaxed and helped us realize something very important; The world really is a beautiful place.

When we watch Steve, full of passion, hop on a crocodile's back and yell in glee we would forget about the co-worker we did not like. Or the war we did not want to fight. Or the terrorist attack we did not want to happen. Or the loved one we did not want to worry about. Seeing him temporarily erased our memories.

He was a hero for the souls of the entire world. And while its sad it took his death to make us realize it, hopefully the fact that it is the biggest story of the year will make it very obvious to all what we really need in order to make this world a peaceful and happy place.

He will be missed, but I've watched his show about 5 times. And I've watched Wildboys about the same. I've learned as much, if not more more about Animals from Steve O then the Crock Hunter. His show was for entertainment, as one person said, from watching his show I couldn't tell you anything of importance about Crocs. Funny how when he wrestles with a croc he is this brave, animal loving hero. But when Steve O does the same thing, he's a "jackass" Not saying anything bad about Steve Irwin, his show was great and his personality was explosive.

I've not watched SteveO, but whenever Steve wrestled crocs it was either because they needed medical treatment, were being moved to a new pen at his zoo, or were being relocated in the wild for their own safety. And if you didn't learn anything you simply weren't paying attention. Irwin constantly talked about the animals with which he was interacting.

Correct. Most of his shows that i've seen were rescue operations or wildlife tagging operations for zoos.

Ok, don't quote me on this, but this is what my boss w/ the media contact just told me on what exactly killed Steve Irwin. He watched the tape btw.

So Steve was swimming above some sting rays minding his own business, and some sting ray just stabbed him in the heart. Steve pulled the barb straight from his heart, which was at least 6 inches long. Then his mouth started foaming, and died in the water. So he got stabbed right in the heart, poison released, and was killed pretty much instantly.

this is pretty much the same thing I've heard from my contacts in the media that have seen the vid.

One of my golf buddies is the VP of a major media outlet. He's hinting that the video of Steve dying is going to be sold to the highest bidder, with the money going to a charity or cause.

Of course, he works in PR, so I don't trust much of what he says
