That's why things need to be done in a planned and ordered way. If taxes were cut for the express purpose of bringing jobs back then it will be done. If the median wage goes up and tariffs are brought in then one reinforces the other. At the same time bring up domestic energy production by making use of public lands to circumvent market prices of energy. Hire drilling companies at a cost plus fee basis and that oil go directly into our economy. Take some percentage of that to create a Manhattan type program for complete energy independence through research and technology. Drive down a major factor, energy, in terms of costs and inflationary effects which will allow higher wages to continue with less inflation. It can be done. It lacks the will and wit to make it so. Nothing like this has even been suggested.

Actually, investing in domestically produced green technologies could accomplish a similar goal.

The root cause of all this is that we are a reactionary species. As a whole we don't plan ahead. We don't attempt to foresee consequences and events as merging or diverging. We don't teach our children to anticipate. We have low standards. Bread and circuses of which I'm so fond works for a reason. The only counter is a willful effort on those who participate to loudly proclaim that they won't tolerate foolishness and make it felt.

I only wish the gov't took that stance. Instead, the gov't seems focused on bailing out the stupid, from the dummies who used ARMs to get homes they couldn't really afford to the equally stupid investors who gave them the money.

I guarantee a lot of blacks who never even considered voting probably signed up when Obama ran. The problem is next time around when its two white guys again they wont bother hitting the polls. Not that I blame them.

Anyway, I think what really can be taken from this is that a large percentage of the populace is clueless, and political ideology doesn't have anything to do with it. Funny stuff, though.
