Steps to getting a motorcycle?

I'm looking to purchase a used bike from a dealership for roughly $5500 after taxes. At the time of this post, I don't have my M1/M2/M license, but I do have a G1 (doubt this matters). Now, some questions:

1. Is it possible to buy a vehicle without a license?
2. I have no credit and I'll be financing this bike, so, would it be best to go through the dealership with a co-signer, or see if I can get a loan from my bank (better rates?).
3. Is the M1 test simply written like the G1? Can I just go write the test, buy the bike, then take the safety course then move onto the M2?

Your in Canada so I dont really know, I know you can buy a bike without a license here, you just cant ride it.

Seems like that's how it is here. But I need to get a loan from the bank to even get it, so I think they might require that I at least have my permit and insure it before they'll even give me the loan.

Of course they'll want insurance on the bike before the hand over the cash to you, but I'm not sure about the license part. I bought my bike out right so I didnt have to deal with a bank

As always, your local rules will be different, but here in MN you can ride a motorcycle without the motorcycle endorsement but there are limitations such as helmet is required, no riding at night, no passengers, and no freeway riding. Once you pass the test and get the endorsement (read: pay the fee) those restrictions are gone. I bought mine and rode it before I got my endorsement. As I said though, every state/province has their own rules.

Get a license.. it sucks owning a bike and not being able to ride it.

Look into the Honda New Rider program they're starting up there in Canadia.

You get a CBR125 bike, jacket and gloves (maybe pants too?) for $150/month for three years. You're essentially financing the bike that way. All you'd need is a helmet and the appropriate license and you're off.

I don't know much about the CBR125, but I imagine it'd be a fantastic starter bike.

If you don't go that route, remember to budget at least $1000 for gear. You need a helmet, boots, jacket, pants, and gloves.

I bought a motorcycle when I was 17 at a garage sale, a Honda CB360... and at the time I did not have a motorcycle endorsement. I rode dirt bikes from the time when I was 12. Funny thing is, when I went to get my endorsement, I aced the written, then went to take the performance/driving portion. After the test, the guy asked, where is the driver of my bike? I told him I drove it. He said that I was not supposed to do that...I said, did I pass or not...and what are you supposed to do, bring the dumb thing on a trailer...kind of a catch 22...he said he would not report me and I aced the driving portion as well.

I just sold my crotch rocket...I already miss it....oh well...I will get another in a few years.

Step #1:

Take a good motorcycle driver's course, preferably one that's put on by your Highway Patrol or Police.

Step #2:

Gaze at the two palms of your hands. Remember, the surface area that you see in front of you is all you'll have in contact with the road. Ain't much!

Step #3:

Take a good motorcycle maintenance course, maybe at your local community college. Maintenance work on a motorcycle never ends.
