Step-sister is going to college...

She wants to be a dolphin trainer.

She's not that bright so I get it... Dolphin training is her thought process... getting a degree in marine biology isn't.

But really, what college has a degree in dolphin training? Barnum & Baily? Seaworld?

Oh Yeah I Need To Contact A DolphinTrainer Also To See What Kind Of Degree I Need To Be A Dolphin Trainer.. Does Anyone Know Of Someone Or Someplace That Is Hiring In South Florida??

This is what I'm dealing with. I thank God we're not related by blood.

edit: trust me... you don't want pics

c'mon man, i know all hawaiian women are goddessess

how hard is it to train a dolphin anyway? if they really are that smart, just bait them with a fish every time you want them to do something...

i remember when that woman was killed by the orca they said that the trainers have to do all sorts of risky things because there are tons of people lined up to be trainers at places like sea world. if i were her i wouldnt count on getting a job like that. she sounds sort of looney, does she even have any background with marine mammals that would make her want to pursue training? is she hot? does she look good in a swimsuit? that might give her an edge if she wanted to do shows at a park...

sounds like she just wants this kind of action:

...tell her to go to seaworld and talk to people. suggest she talk to the dolphins too.

She could try the Navy, they have a program to train dolphins to find mines and such.

Wiki
The dolphins and sea lions are trained by five teams of the Navy's Marine Mammal fleet members. One team specializes in swimmer detection, three teams in mine location, and another team in object recoveries. The quick-response goal of this fleet is to mobilize a team and be on site within 72 hours. Dolphins are trained much as police dogs and hunting dogs are. They are given rewards such as fish on correct completion of a task. Dolphins are trained to detect underwater mines and enemy swimmers and then report back to their handlers

Pretty sure one of the requirements of dolphin trainer is being hot.

At least from what I've seen the one time I went to Sea World.

a few years ago i took a yacht trip to lanai and dolphins swam beside the ship the whole trip. we could have just parked the ship and messed around with them. maybe your sister should get a real job flipping burgers and screw around with dolphins on the side as a hobby

She needs to learn not to capitalize every word in a sentence first.

BTW, my sister is starting a PhD program in Marine Science. She isn't training dolphins, I can assure you of that.

There's some two year animal training programs, even exotic animal training and management programs in California and Florida.

This is what Seaworld says:

ANIMAL TRAINER

An apprenticeship period of at least a year is required for all trainer positions, even with previous experience.
...
Our requirements for animal trainers include:
...
° academic coursework in zoology, marine biology, animal behavior or psychology (preference is given to those applicants with a college degree)

I have a friend who does dolphin training (I think she's actually at Seaworld now), she's got a degree in zoology and has had to move a lot to get the required experience (via volunteering/unpaid internships).

I do not get what the big deal is. At least she aspires to be something. It's no different than a person who goes to school to become a reporter.
