Steelers win again, clinch home-field

Jerome Bettis just keeps on going. Plaxico made a huge difference, too. Really opens up the vertical game... teams can't stack against the run anymore... not that it was working anyway. 😉

Congrats to the steelers, I look forward to a rematch with the Patriots 🙂

That said, the Ravens D is good but overrated and Boller is by far the worst QB I've ever seen (and I said this when they played the Pats).

What's the story with Big Ben? They showed that he got hurt on that roughing the passer call.

He's fine. The guys on the radio said if they needed him, he could have come back in, but since the game was already over pretty much, they left Maddox in as a precaution.

He landed funny on his ribs when Suggs hit him... nothing serious.
Thankfully.

Woot!! Go Steelers!!

If NE loses again this week my day will be complete (although we already have home field in the bag.)

Yeah the Steelers really needed to win this one. Now they can sit back and let some of their beaten-up guys rest for the next few weeks, and come into the playoffs strong.

GO STEELERS.

The extra week of rest should be awesome..

I look for a strong opening to the playoffs.

😀

8-0 at home.

All I can say is enjoy it now Steelers fans...

Eventually it will wind up Pats/Steelers in Pittsburgh, but this time with Corey Dillon and Ty Law.

Let's see if the Steelers can do it when it counts for once.

Thank God the Pats won't be seeing the Dolphins in the playoffs.
😛 😀 🙂

Yeah I was wondering, if the lack of Dillon was the reason they lost to the Steelers, what happened in Miami?

R. Johnson #5 rusher Attempts 16 Yards 62 TDs 0 Long 15
C. Portis #7 rusher 6 17 0 7
F. Taylor #9 rusher 27 76 0 18
C. Martin #1 rusher 24 72 0 13
T. Barber #6 rusher 18 76 1 35
J. Lewis returning from injury, had a successful 100 yard game the week before vs. Indy... 14 26 1 11

Dillon is #4, but since that Steelers/Pats game none of of these top 10 rushers including last years' #1 2000 yard rusher could break 100 or even help their team to beat Pittsburgh (as they all lost). Oh and the Steelers have a history of being able to stop Dillon... Now that Ben actually has some experience in against tougher defenses than what the Pats had in that game (he was actually still rather green in that game), I think Pittsburgh will do just fine.

Oh and of the teams with a passing defense better than what the Patriots have, we can include Miami, Washington, both N.Y. teams, Cleveland, Baltimore, Philidelphia, and Cincinnati. Now assuming Law makes all the difference and rasies up the Pats passing D to a level near any of those 8 teams the Steelers beat (2 of them they beat twice), then I don't think Steeler fans have much to be concerned about.

Whatever happens it should make for a feirce AFC playoff battle, and an interesting superbowl situation, perhaps the AFC will beat up one each other so much the NFC team will have a chance, but it doesn't seem likely that an NFC team will walk away with the trophy...

4 INT's is what happened in Miami. If Brady doesn't throw that 3rd INT, they win the game.

Dillon's absence made a HUGE difference in that first game. Pitt didn't have to respect the run with faulk in the backfield. With Dillon in there, they have to respect the run, which opens the play-action game.

But I do agree, it should be an interesting matchup if it does end up happening.

IF, but he did, even after saying he wouldn't throw a pass from his ass like he did the very game before. Get some pressure on him and he's not going to be the perfect QB everyone makes him out to be.

The Dillon factor only makes me question NE even more. Faulk only had 6 attempts, granted he only gained 5 yards but even if you don't get yards you still force the D to be honost. They gave up on the run completely, a coaching error, they simply didn't know how to deal with the situation. Then there was Miami, why the F were the Pats throwing the ball when Dillon was so successful on the ground against a Miami team who didn't look like they could stop them. They had the lead and blew it, Brady shouldn't even have been passing in the first place, run the clock out NE, even if it means punt and play D. In both losses they were passing when they should have been running, even if it meant little to no gain, the goal is setting your own pace, enforcing your own will. You don't need Dillon to open up the pass, you need Dillon to grind out yards and get 1st downs on the ground, something you just don't do against the Steelers. That's what I was trying to convey. You can use any RB to open up the pass, NE just didn't do it. Like Belichick said after that game, "we were out-played and out-coached", or something along that line.

Although I think they know what they did wrong that game, and they should fix that with or without Dillon. If they do play Pittsburgh and the do end up winning, I don't think it'll be Dillon running all over the Steelers, it'll be him running into a wall like they should have kept doing with Faulk, just so that they can keep the Steelers honost - they don't need Dillon to win, nor would Dillon have been a factor in the first game, he wasn't the reason they went down 21-3 so quick, and they weren't running because they thought they had to do hurry up pass offense to get back in the game. They thought wrong.
