Over 30 countries in the world have some sort of UHC, pay less on every single measure (taxes, personal income) and still receive the same or better care. So it obviously works.

The biggest problem is the misinformation campaign put out by the Republicans and the healthcare industry.

Nobody can seem to answer that.

Of course not, it is easier to blame the Republicans than look at your own party.

And oh, by the way, LOL at the lefties saying "let's ram this through" or "the time for bipartisanship has ended" or something similar. These were the same guys complaining when Bush and Co. acted that way.

Lord knows the Republican's never blame their problems on the other party

Oh, I see, the classic "But he did it first!" response. I saw that one coming from about 10,000 miles away.

:Q it took you this long to shit on my thread ;) I was counting on the "typical" Blangwhore response and got it ;)

I'm sorry, I just have a natural instinct to point out hypocrisy from both parties. Lately, most Spasm threads seem to make it easy for me.

I :lips: you too ;) You can't fault for pointing out your hypocrisy either? Well maybe you can...oh well

I point out hypocrisy from both sides of the aisle. Both parties suck. That isn't a new viewpoint or revelation from me. I've stated it in multiple threads.

The Dems want health care reform via the government. Never mind that they have no idea what that means, Obama said it, they believe it, and that settles it.

I'm not a Rep, but the Dems have jumped the shark with this, wanting something so bad that they don't even care what the consequences are. "But, but INSURANCE COMPANIES AND REPUBLICANS"

Just like the Neocons and Iraq.

Someone has to be here to remind people of the hypocrisy of our parties. You can't say "Wah! Wah! Bush and Co. rammed this stuff down our throats!" and then turn around and say "Time for us to ram it down the Republican throats and end bipartisanship," especially considering a) Bush never had a supermajority and always required some sort of consent from the Democrats and b) The Democrats don't have to "ram" anything down anyone's throats since all it takes is for them to vote along party lines to get things done. Seriously, give me a break.

That is what you guys keep missing. You don't need Republican support. You can blame Republicans and the healthcare industry for misinformation, but my rebuttal to that is -- what the hell are Democrats doing to counter that? From what I have seen, not much, because if they had done something about it, you guys wouldn't be complaining as much.

And to be honest, if you asked me a year ago, I would've said "Hell no" to any form of government sponsored/mandated/paid for healthcare (take your pick of whatever form of the legislation you prefer). But once the proposals started coming and I started reading more about the subject, I have shifted my opinion and believe something must be done. What must be done? I am not sure, but then again, I am not paid to sit around and come up with ideas. Our congresspeople are paid to do this and I expect them to come up with something fair and economically feasible.

That's a Republican talking point that is easily explainable..The problem is the Blue dog Dems who jumped ship from the Republican side are balking at this because they have to face reelection in a red state.

Also I wonder the Republican party is going to do now it looks like the Birthers and the Tea baggers are wanting to breakoff and go their own way...hell the would cut the base in half. It looks like the Republicans who are getting off on this talking point are having to deal with hen fighting in their own party and Michael Steele is the "glue" who can keep it together

It is a talking point of common sense, not Republicans. I know about the Blue Dogs. They aren't a Republican problem, they are a Democrat problem and should be dealt with by the Democrat leadership. What would you do in their (Blue Dogs) shoes? Vote along party lines and possibly lose your re-election bid, or negotiate with your party leadership until you have something you all can vote on? You know, maybe this thought never occurred to you, but have you ever considered the fact that the Blue Dogs might actually be correct and more work is needed?

;)

Hey, if the Republicans can get rid of some of those wingnuts and return to a truly fiscally conservative policy (to hell with being socially conservative and catering to the RR), maybe they can gain more support. That is why I no longer identify myself with them -- they jumped the shark with all the spending they did.

Two partisans walk into a restaurant. The dem sits down at one table, and the rep at another.

The Rep looks at the menu, but it's written in very confusing language full of references to things from years gone by that really have nothing to do with what he's actually going to get. In big letters though is one item "A SPECIAL OF THE DAY, IRAQ WAR!" The rep figures that's good, so he orders it. A little while later a plate of something awful comes his way. Another customer looks his way and says, "hey, that's a plate of hot steaming crap!"

So he calls the waitress over who asks "Is anything wrong?". He replies "that guy over there said this was a plate of crap". She says "No, he's mistaken. This was carefully prepared by DC republicans" and puts a little American flag on a toothpick on it.

The Rep gladly eats away until he hears laughter aimed at him. It's the Dem saying. "Oh man, your boys did a number on you. You are swallowing that shit just as fast as you can!". Of course he doesn't believe him, but he did notice one curious thing. The Dem was also eating a big dish o' diarrhea also with a toothpick, this time with Obama's pic.

The Rep says "It looks like you are being fed the same stuff. The reply? "Hey, no way. This is HEALTH CARE REFORM BABY".
