Steam's Batman GOTY problems

Everyone,

Anyone who has played this off steam, has the game crashed or froze for you?

I can't seem to get past a few sections before the games crashes or freezes on me requiring a reboot.

Is there anything I can try to fix this. My specs are in my sig.

Thanks

I just bought this game off Steam, and I haven't encountered any problems (other than GFWL). What's your graphics driver version?

Turn your OC down , UE3 is all CPU . It is a well threaded engine but ,is not known for OC stability. shrug

That's my only guess

Sorry to add to the reports of no problems (yet) with this game.. although as mentioned above it took quite some time getting Games for Windows Live to be happy.

Batman AA is amongh the most solidly built, stable as all hell games I've ever played. It never chugged, it never stuttered, and it certainly never crashed through the roughly 12-14 hours I got out of it. Amazingly stable, I wish every game ran this way.

Well because it's the UE3 which most games of recent times have used and this looks just like the rest of them so there shouldn't be any problems with it.

Yep, I had issues. Turn off PhysX until you make it through the areas that are crashing for you. There were two in particular that would crash every time in my case.

I just played through this game (it was surprisingly short...) with PhysX on 'high' the whole way through, and it didn't crash or stutter even once.

Doesn't mean those problems don't exist with some video cards and drivers. They do, and there are pages of forum posts on the matter.

Where in my post did I say that because I didn't experience problems, no one else could have? I was merely stating that I didn't have problems. I'm not sure where you procured that entailment from. You're negating a premise that I never posited.

I want to thank everyone for the advice. I lowered the oc down to 3.6 and played for about 4 hrs and not a hiccup so it seem to have worked.

I will let you know if anything changes. Hope not (fingers crossed).

He's using an ATI card, so it's not possible for him to be running hardware accelerated PhysX.
