it used to be fine. now after some GUI updates or something, it loves to lock my computer when i try to start it. what a crappy piece of software.

anyone else have the same problem? it seems to happen when my ATI tools has turned on AA and AF. so i usually have to turn off AA and AF before starting steam and then turn it back on after.
 
I know this might start a big flamefest, but I was one of the folks whose always complained about Steam. I never liked the idea and I dont see how it could be any worse.
I kept it just long enough to beat HL2 and then dumped the whole thing.
 
you shouldn't set AA/AF on ati tool for any games....just make it application control and set it through the game settings
