My free gaming time has taken quite a hit lately, so I probably won't be biting on much. Maybe if they put some Rocksmith DLC on sale again...

I just got an email that Natural Selection 2 is on sale 66% off through July 1st. Does anyone play that? Is it worth getting for $9?

Definitely worth it. The devs have made a considerable number of improvements and additions since it was first released. There seems to be a healthy number of players, too.

I totally forgot about the steam market, i went through and sold the cards i had plus 75 items in TF2 items and make $25 today. Nice. I stopped playing TF2 after they started putting all the crap fluff in the game so was nice to sell all the stuff.

You earn the cards simply by being in the game. So when new games are added, I launch the game and alt+tab it and do whatever it was I was doing and earn the cards like that.

Thanks for the tip. I tried this this morning and it worked for Psychonauts (didn't work for TF2...but then I read that you have to purchase $9 USD of in-game stuff to be eligible for a card drop...oh well).

Questions: does this also work for the "booster" packs (which you become eligible for after getting all of your card drops)? I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get the booster packs (I know they're randomized and that your chances increase the higher you are in level starting with level 10).

Can you get multiple "booster" packs or is it a one-time thing?

Thanks!

I don't know much at all about boosters. Didn't read up on them myself. I received 1 booster pack. All I do know or at least think I know is you only receive a booster pack for a game you own obviously otherwise I do not know anything else. I *think* you can get multiples but you'd be lucky.

Yeah boosters are kind of an enigma to me. If I'm reading things correctly, it's the only way to get a coveted "foil" card. And your odds of receiving a booster pack are low (but increase the higher you are in steam "level" starting at level 10 (which, lucky me, I'm 47XP away from)). I was wondering if Steam level would ever have any impact......I now know it does.

The interesting thing is that it says you need to log into Steam each week to be eligible for boosters....which makes it sound like you can get multiple. I guess we'll see.

I'm going to login to steam tonight, play Psychonauts, leave it on overnight as I sleep and see if I get booster lucky overnight.

I've made about $7 from selling some cards I got...not bad, love me some free stuff. What kind of people pay money for virtual trading cards anyway?

The same people that pay money for in-game items I guess?

While I don't do that myself, I can understand buying items or characters in F2P games, or cosmetic stuff like TF2 hats (at least you get to see them when you play), but paying real money for virtual cards that are just some image displayed in your Steam profile is beyond me.

You can get foils outside of boosters. I received my one and only foil while idling Half Life 2 a few weeks ago. Made $15 off of it at the time 😀

Ditto. This seems to cater to the OCD crowd or something.

I need to ignore those sales, lest I intend to become a collector rather than a gamer.

This year I decided to throw my wallet in a nest of spiders just to be sure.
