I am kind of glad todays deals are repeats, I missed getting the F.E.A.R complete pack, so this gave me a chance to snag it again.

I'm surprised they don't allow (allow meaning option, please no flaming trolls) people to do something similar to bit torrent or, my suggestion, share files between steam accounts on the same lan. I have 2 kids with steam accounts and many times we all 3 get the same game. Seems stupid for steam to download the same files to all 3 of us separately.

Start the download on your kids machines, cancel it, then transfer the appropriate game folder from your Steam/SteamApps/Common directory to the same directory on their machine. I think the ncf files in SteamApps are unique which is why you need to already have those or steam will still download the whole file.

It's completely sanctioned by Steam - the whole point of selling 4 packs is to encourage groups of people to decide together to purchase a game.

Not it's not. The Steam TOS is you buy the package and you gift them out to friends.

sigh.........

This has been posted so many times I've lost count.

Steam TOS

These two are from the bottom.

"May I sell or trade gift subscriptions?

Steam Gift Purchases can not be sold or traded. Attempting to sell or trade a gift subscription is a violation of the Steam Subscriber Agreement and may result in your account being permanently disabled.

"How do I share the Four Pack for [L4D, L4D2, Borderlands] with three friends?

To do this, simply purchase the Four Pack on Steam, and then refer to this guide to share your Extra Copies using the Steam client."

I have removed 5 posts that refer to this

Sorry - I won't do it again. I've been an active member of these forums for many years, but never realized this.

Grabbed both Mass Effects and Dragon Age Origins ultimate, spent $55 total. It's Christmas. :)

The deals today are repeats :(

Same games, the one I was looking at yesterday has a different price today though. I didn't check others but I'm guessing some others might too. Yesterday Bad Company 2 was $15, today it's $6.80 that's a pretty big difference.

Repeat deals. BFBC2 was out day one of the sale for 6.80. I've been pretty religious about checking these every day. I'm glad it helps out the people who missed it but I want new deals! :)

Oh wow! I have l4d2 coming down now at like 16gig so I will definitely try this! Thanks!
I just figured their DRM wouldn't let you....I'll do an edit update to let everyone know how this worked.

Edit: It didn't appear to. It seemed to just continue chugging away where it was. Oh well. I did it while I slept anyway.

This must be something new as I didn't see the "it's against the TOS" posts when people were getting together to buy other packs a year or so ago.

I don't know why STEAM should care anyway - you paid them so you should be able to "gift" them however you want.

Back on top - curses you VALVE! Borderlands GOTY is on sale again... are people still playing this game as the areas are very empty and some of the boss fights take way too long to solo...

You don't get why steam would care? If they didn't care then you could buy packs and resell them at a discount. Something higher than you pay, but lower than a single game price. You've now started an e-tail store for legit steam games and steam is losing out on full price sales.

I'm sure Steam doesn't care, but I'm also sure Steam has this policy in place so that they can reserve the right to curb abuses. I'm sure they don't really think most of the people who buy "expensive" (~$75) 4-packs are going to give away the extra copies out of the goodness of their hearts to their gamer friends. They must expect that groups of gamer friends will go in on these things together.

However, by having the "official policy" against selling "gift" copies, they retain a tool to shut down auctions, sales, etc., where someone is buying and selling Steam games for profit, rather than as part of a true "collective" throwing their money in together.

If you don't have BC2 you better pick it up for $6.80. I just started playing it and I maxed it out with my gtx 480 and i7 and it looks incredible. I'm playing with my jaw on the floor thats how good the graphics are.:)

ya bc2 runs great on high end hardware. I purchased two more at this price and gifted them to friends who think they know bc2 from consoles......

Man, if they 'disabled my Steam Account', it'd be like $5,000 worth of games gone. Guess that gives another reason if I needed one not to resell a $1.00 indie game.

I just checked the tool that tells you, scarily close:

Yep...great game. I've been playing it since March. Graphics on PC if you can max or near max it are so superior to a console that I think my brother would have a heart attack if he actually played it on my system vs his Xbox.

(He lives too far away so rubbing it in doesn't really work unless I can show him, heh)

I picked it up for $6.80 on the first day it was on sale. I wish I wouldn't have. It does look awesome, but I have an onboard Realtek audio card and there are major issues with this game and that card. I can't play more than 15 minutes without a repeating buzzing and then a blue screen. An internet search revealed the issue....this game and Realtek soundcards don't play nice together. The fix: so far all I've been able to find is that you need to buy a new soundcard. I'm not shelling out $ for hardware just for this game.

But it does look good.......just too crashy to play.
