I'm surprised they don't allow (allow meaning option, please no flaming trolls) people to do something similar to bit torrent or, my suggestion, share files between steam accounts on the same lan. I have 2 kids with steam accounts and many times we all 3 get the same game. Seems stupid for steam to download the same files to all 3 of us separately.
It's completely sanctioned by Steam - the whole point of selling 4 packs is to encourage groups of people to decide together to purchase a game.
Not it's not. The Steam TOS is you buy the package and you gift them out to friends.
sigh.........
This has been posted so many times I've lost count.

Steam TOS
These two are from the bottom.
"May I sell or trade gift subscriptions?
Steam Gift Purchases can not be sold or traded. Attempting to sell or trade a gift subscription is a violation of the Steam Subscriber Agreement and may result in your account being permanently disabled.
"How do I share the Four Pack for [L4D, L4D2, Borderlands] with three friends?
To do this, simply purchase the Four Pack on Steam, and then refer to this guide to share your Extra Copies using the Steam client."

Same games, the one I was looking at yesterday has a different price today though. I didn't check others but I'm guessing some others might too. Yesterday Bad Company 2 was $15, today it's $6.80 that's a pretty big difference.
Start the download on your kids machines, cancel it, then transfer the appropriate game folder from your Steam/SteamApps/Common directory to the same directory on their machine. I think the ncf files in SteamApps are unique which is why you need to already have those or steam will still download the whole file.
Sorry - I won't do it again. I've been an active member of these forums for many years, but never realized this.
This must be something new as I didn't see the "it's against the TOS" posts when people were getting together to buy other packs a year or so ago.
I don't know why STEAM should care anyway - you paid them so you should be able to "gift" them however you want.
Back on top - curses you VALVE! Borderlands GOTY is on sale again... are people still playing this game as the areas are very empty and some of the boss fights take way too long to solo...
You don't get why steam would care? If they didn't care then you could buy packs and resell them at a discount. Something higher than you pay, but lower than a single game price. You've now started an e-tail store for legit steam games and steam is losing out on full price sales.
If you don't have BC2 you better pick it up for $6.80. I just started playing it and I maxed it out with my gtx 480 and i7 and it looks incredible. I'm playing with my jaw on the floor thats how good the graphics are.![]()
ya bc2 runs great on high end hardware. I purchased two more at this price and gifted them to friends who think they know bc2 from consoles......

Ok that one doesn't work, at least for me:

Yep...great game. I've been playing it since March. Graphics on PC if you can max or near max it are so superior to a console that I think my brother would have a heart attack if he actually played it on my system vs his Xbox.
(He lives too far away so rubbing it in doesn't really work unless I can show him, heh)
