Is this a game that uses Steam regardless of whether I buy it on Steam or not? If so, I might take this deal, if not, I prefer not to tie the game to Steam (unless it is really cheap - like 5-10 dollars).

woah, I had to do a double take seeing this thread title. I was like wah? this isn't the weekend deal, then noticed someone bumped it up haha.

Martimus, it doesn't use Steamworks so isn't tied to Steam, but it isn't on sale either anymore.

Think I'll start adding dates to the thread titles for now on lol

You might be sleeping for awhile. I've been watching and waiting for this game to go on sale at Steam.

Instead, the price has went UP from $41.99 to $49.99!

I don't mind sleeping for as long as it takes.
I'm not one of those people who needs to play the latest and the greatest.

I got Bioshock and Mass Effect for $5 each during the Steam holiday sale. I'm more than willing to wait.

Its cheaper all around to wait for older games.. not only are the games cheaper, but you don't need the latest and greatest computer hardware and the top of the line prices.

the Stone Prisoner DLC is worth it IMO. it adds a new companion (a new class actually!) who weaves himself into the plot, has his own companion quest and items and is generally fun to have in your party. i really liked him.

(and yes, i avoided an assload of spoilers trying to write this paragraph).

I am confused about everyone waiting for a price drop.

I bought DAO about a two months ago for $28 with the Stone DLC and The Blood Armor upgrade. They even threw in Mass Effect (the whole game) for free. I bought it directly off the EA site when they were having the huge Digital copy sale.

The Stone DLC is a necessity. The Companion you get is pretty much the HK-47 of DAO and hasn't left my party yet because the background conversations are HILARIOUS.
Warden's keep apparently adds an INCREDIBLY handy object at your base site once completed.

While I am in here, does anyone know if Bioware ever puts their DLC points on sale? I know I am being cheap here but 7-8 bucks is pretty high IMO. I always said I was firmly against DLC's but DAO has shown me that they can be great just a little too pricey.

What's the difference between the one sold on EA's site and the one on Steam? Which is more invasive?
Does buying it on EA give you access to add it to your Steam account once you get your key?

I only have time for one digital distribution on my PC, and Steam is already on it.

I don't have time to install Impulse, Windows game Live, D2D, Metaboli, etc...when I already have steam.
Impulse(Haven't had any reason to use it yet) might be the only exception since it grants me access to Stardock games.

EA is a true digital download. You had to download their client to download the game but that was the last time I had the client on. You don't have to have it running in order to play. You do have to be logged in in order to use the premium content but I think that just requires an internet connection.

It is def not like Steam where you have to be running steam and logged in there in order to play a game.
