Steam issue

I can log on fine and all that, i just can't find any servers even with no filters.
Anyone else have this issue?

i can find servers but i can't connect to any. this happens with CS:S and DoD:S

yup. happens every once in a while. very very annoying. i can update and join my Favorite servers just fine. I can also (usually) update the server list, but when I try to join, it says server not responding and the ping goes to 2000. After this happens, I can't join ANY servers, including my Favorites. quite odd.

I can find servers, I just have a hard time connecting to them. I always get super high latency when I try to connect. But if I keep pressing connect enough times it eventually goes through, and I get awesome ping. Steam is just F-ing stupid.

I would go to steampowered.com and check out their support.

Could it be Vista-related-problem?
If i remmber correctly, under XP i never had this issue.

so i joined the steam forums to post about this problem. once you register, you have to wait for a steam moderator to add you to the system or something so you can post...

such bs...

My friends list is semi-broken, and my favorites have NEVER worked. It annoys the hell out of me.

i 'm finally able to post on the steam forums and asked my question.

so far they're saying its a port forwarding issue. i know i forwarded all the ports listed on the steam support site to my pc but it still didn't work.

one of the guys linked portforward.com and a list of games and their ports. it had some extra ports listed that steam's site didn't mention.

the link is for DOD:S but i checked the rest of the game links and they are all the same as DOD:S.

its gotta be an issue with steam because i forwarded all the ports, disabled windows firewall, disabled the modem firewall and it still won't work. i even completely removed the router and just used the modem and it still get the same problem as before.

Let me put it bluntly: It's Valve's fault. My desktop isn't even behind a router, so port-forwarding is a non-issue. Kerio is told to allow everything. Yet sometimes I can't refresh the game list or connect to a server despite seeing it. Servers also mis-report their current # of players. Like I mentioned before, FL and favs are screwed up too. This despite deleting everything and re-downloading. I've given up and decided their code monkeys are just.... monkeys.

Working fine for me with my Vista x64 HP,wonder if you have something effecting it like a third party software if your firewall is ok?

I have played CS:S because once in the blue when i start Steam there will be random servers on there, not many but some. I joined them fine. So weird.

Weird indeed... I haven't had any trouble recently with Steam or servers... except for that damned friends list and favorites not working properly...
