I'll never forgive those bastards at Bethesda for what they did to Fallout.

NEVAR!!!
agreed, made it 3D, made some Incredible Graphics, Made a Exciting world to explore that had neat little hidey holes all over and some easter eggs. made combat the Turn based people could use and the also teh FPS crowd could enjoy. made a good story line to follow with plenty of side quests.

I HATE UM!

Good stuff. Shame I bought all these independently.
If you guys want depth, and a big free roaming world, these 3 games are proof such enjoyment can be obtained.

i agree with free roaming, but not depth. these are very shallow games (at least FallOut and Oblivion, imo.)

boring same old shit over and over.

It isn't the same old by any means. Each quest is completely different, and has its own reason for taking place. The issue with Oblivion is that there are only a few sets of textures, so everythign looks alike (this is the true consolization of the game, since both the XBox 360 and the PS3 only have 512MB of RAM.)

But I was amazed at how in depth and different each of the quests was in Oblivion and Fallout 3. It was nothing like any "Open RPG" I had played to date, where they had the exact same mission with maybe different enemies to fight, or different widgets to pick up. Games like Mass Effect or Hellgate fall into that category.

howcome using HDR gets rid of AA options?
does HDR does its own AA'ing?

No. HDR is high dynamic range. Its a lighting thing. Actually a super advanced bloom effect.
It has nothing to do with AA as such. Anti-aliasing eliminated the jaggies on edges of objects.

The game engine has issues and for some odd reason you cant enable both HDR and AA at the same time. I think some dude made a home-brew patch that allows both to be used.

Actually, I think HDR lighting is disgustingly annoying. I usually dont use it.

Damn Steam and the your deals. I've still got probably fifteen games from the holiday sale that I haven't installed, plus a few left from the year before. Of course, I'd been waiting for FO3 to fall to about this price. Now it's just gonna take m e three damn days to download it. Maybe I should go see the woman for a few days...

Finally I bought Oblivion yesterday, it's a great bargain.
Download it now, hope can enjoy it soon.
But I haven't finished King Arthur yet...

oh... so are most of you guys using bloom and AA instead?

The trick is to enable AA through your video card's utility (e.g. Catalyst Control Center for ATI cards) and then enable HDR through the video game itself. This will get you AA + HDR. But if you try to enable AA through the game itself you will not be able to also enable HDR.

Aye, tis true! I played Oblivion first and I HATED the hell out of Morrowind!

I picked up Morrowind after having played Oblivion. It's like going to Half Life after Half Life 2.

But since it was only $5 it was worth it to play with (no way its worth $20 - I think some people rave about it because they grew up on it back in the day - fair enough). I'll sling some mods on it.

I mean for $5 I have junk like World of Goo (on steam) which is ok but Morrowind is better than curiosities like that imo.

Incredible graphics compared to what? The graphics are not that good at all. The textures weren't high rez at all and even the green parts of the world didn't look that spectacular at all either. The world isn't that exciting. Every "dungeon" in Fallout 3 was almost exactly the same and the lay-out looked exactly the same as well which goes with how lame they made the textures. Just recycled every texture for everything. The characters also looked almost exactly the same as well and the voice acting sucked. Lots of side-quests yes but everyone complained about the story cus it sucked. The main quest was retarded and many of the side-quests gave you no reason to care about doing them as you level up so early which is retarded in the first place and when you get to the max level, pretty much every enemy in the game dies too quickly. Also let's not talk about how retarded the ending was.

I strongly disagree with everything that you just said.

I played Fallout and Fallout 2 both when they were released. They are great games. So is Fallout 3. I thought F3 captured the atmosphere and gameplay well.

What are the best graphical mods for Morrowind? Anything like Qarls for oblivion?

I am looking through the hall of fame mods at Planet Elder Scrolls, and I don't see any major graphical mods, just gameplay mods. I don't want to change the gameplay before even trying the game.

I'm playing with OOO, no other gameplay mods. I picked up the knight class. I'm finding that leveling is a painful process, i'm having trouble leveling speechcraft. Alot of areas are very difficult, i can't kill anything. Anyways, i'm thinking of changing my class and basing something of agility/strength mix.
