If 10 million people download the free demo, and 500 purchase, thats a great big smack in the face. It also tells them they need to put out better games at a more reasonable price or stop doing shitty ports altogether.

Wow, that's total bullshit. I would have hoped you could filter servers by whether they have the map pack or not. Since you can't, I am not even going to bother playing over the free weekend.

Fuck Call of Duty, Activision has ruined the series.

I seriously doubt that any of the guys spouting off in here have even played Black Ops, because you can filter the server browser by whatever map packs you have. If you dont like a game thats fine, but you shouldnt feed others bull about it.

very, especially if you throw in all the COD hate threads as well...yet there they go playing and enjoying the hell out of them. Guess game bashing is fun....am currently reading the Windows 8 bashing fest...can't wait to see how many of them actually buy W8 on release day. Think i'll keep records, should make for a good psychology experiment.

I tried it out to see what the fuss was about. Game made me sick with the strange movements and odd fov making everything look huge. I managed to retrain my eyes to get in a bit over an hr, and no desire to bother with it again. Doesn't look good, maps are small as shit, mouse control just sucks. I guess I can see the appeal. It's fairly easy to get kills when you lock on to the person, but beyond that meh. Battlefield is by far the better game in terms of gameplay and graphics.

I think it's interesting that MW1 and MW2 seemed like more fun games than Blops. I owned both on PS3 and thought they were much more fun after trying Blops on the PC. I can't really put my finger on why, though.

Black Ops killed my interest in CoD games, especially the month and a half wait to even be able to play the game without stuttering every 3 seconds.

I won't play a fps on console because I can't deal with a controller. When I try to play it looks like may character is having a seizure.

you let your gamepad skills get weak. practice makes perfect. Though i assume you do realize they make kb/mouse adapters for 360 and PS3 that work on all their games.

Never had console FPS controller skills.
I made a XIM for PS3 but its annoying to use and not perfect
I also bought a frag fx controller and its easier to use but again, not perfect.

Treyarch finally got their act together and Black Ops is now pretty well balanced and runs smoothly. For them to take 6 months to accomplish that is totally ridiculous though. I suppose it should not be surprising as they did the same thing with their release of World at War.

Im in the same boat as you using a controller - hopeless....... thats why Im a PC gamer!

It's easy to get used to a controller. I can get used to it in less than 30 min.

Played for an hour or so. Not my cup of tea, really not very fun at all.

I may try it again later tonight to see if I like any of the other game styles; the few I've tried so far were either boring or far too hectic.

Well, been playing it on and off for the past few days, here are my thoughts:

+Its a lot faster pace than BC2, I actually like not spending the majority of the time running to objectives.
+The weapons feel a lot more customizable and more satisfying to use than in BC2
+Some of the non-ranked games and mods are very fun

-Holy hackers! it seems every other server I join has someone with an aimbot
-It seems there's no way I can change my loadout while connected to server
-Feels like the majority of players are in 24/7 nuketown servers (don't get me wrong, its a nice small actionpacked map, just gets tiring after a while; especially with the nade spam there)

So, am I buying it? not at the $40 mark. When / IF it falls to $20 and below, I'll probably pick it up, but not worth it at this price point.

Judging by the rest of the CoD games, Black Ops will be $20 in about seven years.

I played a bunch more myself and ended up really enjoying CTF and, to a lesser extent, Demolition. I think the games I originally was trying and hating were the DM and FFA ones which were not my style at all; having the actual objective to go for, rather than just trying to kill the maximum number of people works way better for me.

I'd pick it up for $20 or less, but it sounds like it will be ages until that happens.
