At least the flash sales gave you some hope you might get some kind of great deal and kept you checking back, maybe pick up something you may not have purchased otherwise, try something different.

I understand but they update their highlights list daily or so on the main steam page so it is similar. I'll take this system with the refund option than the old one any day.

These games are getting hefty. Might have to factor in the cost of a new SSD.

I bought Oblivion since I like Skyrim so much. I don't know when I'll play it because I'll probably be tired of the genre by the time I finish Skyrim, but we'll see.

Picked up the DLC packs for Dishonored I. Hard to say no at three bucks each.

I think The Knife of Dunwall was designed by vegans.

Sims 3 and all of its add-ons are 75% off.
Its actually a damn good game BUT it has many bugs and glitches, does not work on some systems (for unknown reasons) and still has a few performance issues.

Sims 4 is only available on Origin, but it runs much better on a wider range of hardware.

Kerbal is 40% off and frankly if you havent bought it you are a dumbass.
Buy the game. Play it. Sell it back in less than 2 hours if you really cant stand it. (the tutorials should take you considerably less than 2 hours).

Oblivion needs some heavy modding to make it playable due to the ridiculous enemy scaling. Even a level 40 Orc in all Daedric gear can't kill a Mudcrab in less than three hits in vanilla Oblivion.

It's somewhat a pain in the ass, but the best mod for Oblivion is still FCOM. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlPhyA9OvaM Check out the trailer. The installation is a bit sketchy sometimes and I can't find a current topic for it, but if you're interested, I can always link you an older one. The installation should still be the same - if not a bit more streamlined.

No Mans Sky is marked down 40%. I think that should be the new base price and the Xmas sale should be 40% off that value.

Speaking of NMS, it was just updated with the base building, but from what I've read, it's very basic and still not worth the asking price (even on sale). I would definitely wait until the Winter Sale if anyone is still looking at NMS since it might get 50-60% off by then.

Doom is on sale. Started playing yesterday, took 1 hour to download 60GBs lol, the game is amazing! Also Bioshock collection is on sale

I haven't played anything for a long while, but on impulse thought I'd give Doom (reboot) a try. May have been a mistake - I didn't realise games had gotten so ludicrously huge while I wasn't paying attention.

It's telling me it will take an entire 24 hours to download. In practice it'll probably take me a week, of off-and-on downloading.

Not sure I'd have bothered had I realised what a pain it is to download!

But there are so many good mods for Oblviion, including at least one that comprehensively fixes that issue by keeping some creatures level-capped while ensuring you still meet challenging ones (MMM, was it?). Whereas I got bored with Skyrim very quickly because the levelling system meant it got ridiculously easy before you'd explored much of the world (or if you slowed levelling, it started off too hard)

Once modded I think Oblivion's levelling is better than Skyrim's.

Unmodded Oblivion is hilarious, you have these epic 20 minutes brawls with individual Minotaurs or whatever, bandits running around in full daedric/glass armor, etc. Nothing can actually hurt you of course, just funny how it's like at no point in the dev/beta process of that game's creation did anyone attempt to do anything as a level 40 character.

Obliv modding is fun, though a bit flaky. I remember there being a handful of mods (MMM, FCOM, a few others?) that made it a lot more bearable/fun, and the midas' magic is still one of my fav mods of all time.

Only bought two Pinball FX tables so far. Knowing the Christmas sale is a few weeks away makes it easy to wait on some purchases.

FCOM encompasses all the big name mods. OOO (Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul) fixed the leveling issue and added thousands (yes thousands) of new gear and plenty of new leveled bosses. MMM (Martigen's Monster Mod) added hundreds, if not thousands, of new enemies and monster variants along with even more bosses and some new gear. Oblivion Warcry and Fran's Leveled Creatures/Items are the final two major mods which are basically just balancing, even more items, features, enemies, factions, and more that I can't even remember.

There are other great mods out there, but you can easily just install FCOM and DarnUI (the default UI is a joke), and you'll feel like you're playing a whole new game.

7 Days to Die is on sale again, it doesn't usually hit the $10 mark like it is now, $16 for a two pack is a steal. Early Access but its mostly complete and tons of fun especially with a friend. You can host a game on your local machine or join a server. Not a AAA game and no story but its a good game that looks decent in an odd kind of way.

It is worth it trust me. I am still blown away how awesome and badass this game is!

Second thoughts on getting The Witness. I checked out a lets play and for $24 it seems like it's going around a game world finding hundreds of mazes and not much else.

I've bought a handful of games during this sale ... some straight through steam, others through g2a when it was still cheaper.

Far Cry 3
Dishonored
Civ 5
Dragon Age Origins
Soma

Yeah, lots of old games, I don't really keep up. Soma looks cool, same studio that made the first Amnesia and it has really good reviews. I think it's around $12 right now.

SOMA's fun, similar vein as Amnesia (but a bit more meatier in my opinion). If you like suspense/thinky/exploration(ish)/horror you'll get a fun 8-10hrs out of it.
