Why uninstall games when you can buy a bigger hard drive? 😛
If you are worried about you data cap why are you installing all these games? I have over 200 games on steam and have never had more then 5 installed at one time.
So the issue is hard drive space?
Well, now you see the problem with having all your steam games installed.I've been a Steam member for a long time, and these games have been installed over the course of years. Even though I have hundreds of games installed, updates have never been an issue until yesterday since the updates are usually only a couple hundred MBs with a few being larger.
Honestly, the only issue with having lots of games is having the room to store them. I use a 3 TB drive for Steam.
Nope. 3TB. I never uninstall.

No, actually I still don't. It isn't like I got burned because I had to download an update for many games. I took a huge bandwidth hit because a FEW games had ridiculously large updates. All you can see is TF2 with a 6.9GB update, but the rest of the completed updates are at the bottom. A few examples are The Witcher 2 with a 10GB update and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed with a 12GB update. That's 7.3% of my bandwidth allotment right there.
And you will probably continue to get burned because you have so many games installed that the odds of one haveing a large update is pretty high.
It is simple math. If Steam has large updates to 1% of their games a month, and you have 200 games installed you will expect 2 large updates a month. If you only have 10 games installed you expect one large update every 10 months. The more games you have installed, the more large patches you are going to get.
So, I updated Steam earlier tonight with this new Friends and Family thing, and a few games said they needed to update. Eh, not a big deal, so I let them start. I came back a little bit later, and this is what I saw...

😱 63.5 GB USED 😱
There goes over 20% of my data cap in less than a few hours.
I once used over 1TB/month for like 3 straight months and thought Comcast was gonna cancel my service...didn't happen, so I kept burning away at the bandwidth 😀
Data cap? Hahaha. . . Ha.
Get a better ISP dude!
I have Comcast
I have that same thing happening. I actually searched google looking for this happening to other people and (thought I've only looked a small amount of time) this is the first reference I've seen.
For their Source games especially, they'll often show drastically larger download sizes than they actually pull down IIRC. Dunno why.
