Also, have all the release bugs and activation issues been resolved, or does that even apply with the Steam version?

Portal is also $4.99. While a little short, that's still a great deal.

I need some game recommendations, I'm loading up for 2009

Is Mount & Blade any good? $15
Or Prince of Persia Everything Pack? $48 - includes the latest PoP
Unreal Tournament 3 - $10 anyone still play this?

I highly highly recommend Multiwinia for $5.00, my lan buddies and I play numerous hours of this. You can pick up the gameplay within a matter of seconds but it is still challenging, multiple different play modes, well worth the $5, probably the best value multiplayer game

slightly off topic, but relevant to my purchasing any of these: can you resell games you've bought on Steam (i.e. transfer the license, "transfer" it to another person's account, e.g.)? I resell all of the games I buy once I've finished them to recoup some of the cost, and I don't want to pull the trigger on these Steam games unless I can do that

Resale limitations

Games bought through Steam cannot legally be resold due to the unsuitability of current proof of purchase laws. The only valid proof in an entirely digital transaction is the credit card used during the process, but as ownership of credit cards cannot be transferred, neither can that of Steam-bought games.

Note: Possibly in the future, they may allow you to move your games to "gift" status. This will allow the transfer of your game to another Steam account.

Thanks Glavinsolo, Bioshock for $5 is a great deal, especially because the Steam version has been completely de-securomed. I might get my hands on Clear Sky also... very tempting.

id Super Pack is $35, Half Life: Blue Shift is $.99, Half Life: Opposing Force is $.99.

Bioshock is definitely worth $5. I already own a retail copy, but bought the Steam version for no disk hassle.

a Core 2 Duo? or dual core?

I ran it on a s939 X2 3800+ at 1920x1200 fine, you will probably have to worry about the video card more than the processor.

I didnt update it at all my first play through and didnt run into any glitches, and I didnt have any problems activating.

I think I already own most of the big-name titles already, so I'm thinking about getting these compilation packs:

1) IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 ($7.49)
2) Xpand Rally + GTI Racing Pack ($7.19 -- for some reason, they have GRID, which I already own, but not DiRT...)
3) Multiwinia + Darwinia ($7.49)

Still browsing to see if there's anything else that looks interesting.

Bioshock at $5 is a MUST! The game is a work of art.

Team Fortress 2 at $10 is also an incredible value. I'd gladly pay $100 for it knowing how addictive it is. 😉

I want UT3, Mass Effect and Crysis Warhead...but I haven't beaten Crysis yet. I want Bioshock too since I lost my disc.

ah im in Germany now and all the prices are showing up in Euro!! Agh. The whole website is in English except the prices. I canät modify the URL to display in USD either. ANy ideas??

Man, I love steam, I knew they were going to pull off somehing crazy for the holidays. I mean a crazy deal every weekend is already great and I usually buy the game on weekend sale even if I'm not sure if I'll ever get to it, but this is just crazy off the hook. Vale is the best thing to happend to gaming entertainment. MS Live got nothing on it.

Bioshock is one of the most highly rated games of all time (96% on Gamerankings and Metacritic). I've been gaming since 1985 and it is in my top 3. Hell yes it's worth it!! 🙂

you are kidding right, BioShock should still be $29.99 compared to all the other crap that is out there for that price

Thanks for the info! Was able to pick up two more copies of UT 3 for my two secondary accounts that I use for lan play. Now I have L4D, CS:S, TF2, and UT3 on all three accounts. I just wish I could get CoH and WiC for less than $10 each to add those as well to have a complete FPS and RTS lan setup.

Grrrr...this is happening to me too. I wonder if I could swing by the base library and maybe get a "US" ip address.
