Steam Deal: Far Cry 2 for 14.99

Good price but god that game was lame... unless your really enjoy the one or two things you'll be doing over and over again.

Definitely. I stopped playing 20 minutes or so into the game. It felt like a FPS version of GTA, except the enemy can spot you even if you are well hidden.

makes sense why its so cheap so quickly, couldnt even give this game an hour of playtime. big disappointment, but good deal considering its a new game 😉

I, for one, loved it. so fun to explore the open world and try different approaches to different situations. It's adaptable to sniper, run and gun, even has long-range artillery. Loved assaulting that wooden base on the river, the fishing village and that one pueblo-like town built into the side of the mountain. Pretty cool to cruise around on a hang glider. On top of that, it's all beautiful. Maybe I have a low threshold for game enjoyment, but I played through the whole thing and plan to again.

I liked the game, and how I can control the pace of the game - everything from run and gun, to leisurely sniping, and scenic drives. I also like chopping up the wounded with the machete just like they do in the real Congo 🙂
However; the second time through I got burned by the 88% glitch. It has NOT been resolved with patches. I had 28 hours of playing time invested and I can't finish the game 'cause the doors to Mike's Bar are locked shut leaving me no way to meet Reuben!!!
Somebody at Ubisoft needs a whooping!!!
I'm trying it a 3rd time - this time I won't do all the buddy missions - I skipped one the first time through, and reached the final scene and 100%.

IMO, I wouldn't buy this game again at any price (I paid $20), just because of that glitch...

I don't know anything about this securom DRM issue, but is it still a concern with distribution via Steam?

3rd-party DRM: SecuROM?
5 machine activation limit

Doh, didn't even think about the SuckyROM. Just the nice $15 price to have it on steam and not need to worry about tracking down CDs/Keys.

Half the reason I picked this up was because Steam is trying to show publishers that more games sold at $20 and under = more profit then fewer games sold at $50+.

I'm hoping for a really nice deal tomorrow that doesn't overlap the deals from earlier in the week.

Played this for the 360 and it's biggest downfall was that the bad guys took way to much ammo to put them down, Does anyone know if this has been corrected in a patch or if the pc version is different?

Ok so only 1 day left for the Ubisoft week. They better do WiC cus I want that game bad. I have been waiting out and not bought any of the other deals this wek. Need to stop buying every Steam deal there is.

I would pick up World in Conflict as well!

Yeah, if they had a decent price on that I would definitely jump on it. FarCry 2 doesn't excite me in the least bit though because the game just feels so gloomy all the time.

I would be all over this if it were not for the massive queue of games I have stacked in the other room from such good deals that I have yet to play 🙁

From what I have read, sounds pretty good... I like the sound of a first person GTA, there were so many flaws to GTA that made it not enjoyable to me, maybe this game will correct them once I get around to buying it.

Summer cannot come soon enough!

This game is terrible. Save your $15 IMHO.

About the 5 activation limit thing though, the activations can be revoked at uninstall, so it's not like you only get 5 installations forever.

I'm doing pretty good so far. I only have Bioshock I bought over xmas for $5 that I still haven't played. There have been quite a few tempting deals though, but I'm glad I've passed on FC2 after reading comments here.

eh.. I liked it. It has its flaws, but I actually liked being lost out in Africa having to find things to do. You have to actually put some thought into it.

I tried this game and it was awful, it has nothing in common with Far Cry or good games.

This. I paid full price for this junk and it pains me to this day still.

i'm not sure how anyone can say this game 'sucks' and then praise far cry...

it's the same damn thing, except they actually tried to set up a story in this one instead of 'here's a jungle, go nuts until the faggy zombies come out.'
