Steam Crashes at random

Hey,

Recently I've had a problem where steam will crash while i'm playing a game, or even while i'm just using windows.... the game doesn't crash, just steam... and as soon as I click ok the game then crashes too because steam dies completely. here's a screen shot of the error.

I'm running on Windows XP Pro Build 2600.spsp_sp2_qfe.061030-0020

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3700+
RAM: 2 gigs
GPU: XFX Nvidia 7900 GS
MB: ASUS A8V-E Delux

It's a memory buffer overflow error. I've gotten it too many times, along with the Direct3D Device Driver Error because I'm using ATiTT's instead of CCC for driver control.
