Steam-Bioshock Problem

I just bought Bioshock off steam for $5. After installation I booted up the game and installed the stuff it made me install(DirectX,etc). When I start the game up the logo comes up saying bioshock in the middle of the screen but then does not do anything and when I click on it, it says it is not responding and closes.

What is the problem? Any solution?

Don't know if this is in any way related, but generally that means you are hanging on something. There were a few distinct problems, like missing DLL's, incompatibility w/ x-fi, and a few others that are escaping me. I ran into like 3 games in 3 months where I had this problem.
