No Mans Sky is marked down 60% but I dont wanna encourage publishers to screw over their players, so I will never purchase it.

Project Cars 2 is 40% off, but getting mixed reviews.

At that level of discount for Steamlink, it makes me wonder if they are up to something, trying to get them into every household for some devious reason. I'm thinking Samuel L Jackson's character's scheme in Kingsmen.

For that price I'd get one but there's that, plus not owning a TV.

I didnt care much for the Steam Link, or the Steam Controller. But some people like it.

I never understood the need for a Steam Link. If you have the money to buy a Steam Link but you're unable to move your PC a few feet and connect it to your TV, then you have bigger issues. As for the controller, you can just buy a wired 360 controller and literally plug it in and play. They are cheaper than the Steam controller and there's far more compatibility with a 360 controller.

that fat angry Francis guy on Youtube explained why he liked it. I think his username is Boogie or something like that.

My computers are in my bedroom, large tv in living room, computers are very heavy/don't have wheels, so bought a link and ran a 100' cat5 under the carpet, now whether I watch plex or play games, it's from the same interface.

I don't disagree w/you on the controller bit.

I know, but I'm just a sucker for a large discount! As I say, I was momentarily thinking 'wow, only $5 for a neat-looking black box with some electronics in it - I wonder what it does?'. But not having a TV to attach it to is a bit of a deal-breaker, I have to admit. Plus there's shipping cost, so I'm going to pass it up.

Arma huh? I feel like I'd have an easier time in the actual military than trying to figure out the controls for that game.

I haven't bought anything yet but I've been keeping an eye on "Next Day" ...seems like aside from the Stalker-esque environment and lore it's probably another generic open world survive and die game.

Here's the problem. Here are some of the games I'd like to buy in this sale - not including 'premium' titles like the new Assassin's Creed - and they total $350:

No Man's Sky $22
Civ 6 Deluxe $36
Far Cry Primal $20
Planet Coaster $20
Wolfenstein II deluxe $36
Fallout 4 w/Season Pass $40
Prey $18
Middle Earth Shadow of War $32
Styx Shards of Darkness $20
Endless Space 2 $20
Northguard $14
BeamNG.drive $20
Darkwood $11
Darkest Dungeon bundle $22
Firewatch $10

Not including others I bought, others I'm planning to get, others not on the list.

Its dlcs and other expandables that really wallop your wallet. The value often just isn't there at those prices for a few additional hours of entertainment. I beat fallout 4 far harbor dlc in about 10 hours since my fallout character was already uber strong by the time I started it. However the dlcs cost almost as much as the base game.

Currently Fallout 4 is $15 and the season pass is $25.

I already bought the game on disc I think but can't find it.

Purchased Nier: Automata for 40% off. I'll consider that a very good deal for a very good game.

Looking at the updates it looks like they might actually be progressing towards what they hyped the game to be, but at release the game was completely void of anything they made players think it would include. They talked up and had trailers for the game that are nothing like the actual game play. The developer is infamous for his pre-release interviews where he told bold faced lies about the game. People looked up to him like he was the next Steve Jobs at conferences. They said you can play with friends, but you can't and they actually had to put a sticker over the "multiplayer" icon on the box when they shipped it. Investigations for false advertising, and refunds were given to a majority of the people who bought it. It was the biggest bait and switch since Spore.

OK, fair enough. So it's more a 'they screwed players by lying and at launch', problem more than a 'they're screwing players currently' problem.

Ya, it can make some sense to punish them for earlier behavior... have to decide if that's worth doing if it's a good game to get now.

Yeah, I hadn't thought much of it since release until I saw it on the Steam sale the other day. Steam has the Overall Feedback and Recent Feedback prominently displayed for each game, for which I noticed the recent feedback on NMS was actually pretty decent, so I took a look at a few of the latest patch updates, and it seems to be coming along. The reviews indicate the same. I would be very interesting in buying it if ever shows any resemblance to the promises they made in development, and even forgive them for their trespasses (I can appreciate when someone owns up and pays up), but I sincerely doubt it.
