# of Steam games owned: Too many
# of unplayed Steam games: Too many
Most # of hours played on a game: Exponentially higher on non Steam FTP game than any game in library.

I am curious now, with some of the people in this thread that have 500+ games, what would happen if steam goes bankrupt or the games get expired (publisher doesn't like steam anymore) or ... and all those games would be lost ?

Steam, and almost all the rest of the online stores all have DRM that prevent you from playing the games you legally bought (or is that rented ?).

It makes me think about what I purchase, and from whom.

I guess that would suck.

I'd pirate them.

I'm at 50% played, but since Steam only started tracking in 2009 I'm sure it's at least 60% played.

Pretty sure there's a system in place if this ever happens. I can't remember the specifics though.

We love you Chiropteran.

I am sandorski and I am a Steam addict. I still have games I bout 18 months ago on the Summer Sale that I haven't even Installed, nevermind played. Just bought a ton more in the current XMas sale. Dead Island, Sniper Elite and Sniper Elite V2, GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas(played previously), GTA IV with Episodes(already played vanilla non-Steam version, but wanted the Episodes), Just Cause 2(the only 1 I have started so far), Race 07.

I only have 96 games myself, but even before I became a steam addict, I understood what a license agreement was. ."Buying" software has always been a gamble if you follow your logic to it's base. The DRM does introduce a new element to licensing software, but not the basic mechanics.

If for some reason Valve did go out of business and I no longer had access to those games (gotta be less than 1% probability there) I would chalk it up to luck of the draw with how content is distributed in our modern world.

Then again I have some sort of affliction that causes me to realize there are more important things than accumulating massive amounts of currency.

I can say that if it ever did go down, someone will have hacked the local Steam content files to be able to play them. Doesn't really help you for anything you don't have downloaded, but at that point if I really wanted them I'd just say f*kit and download them from a torrent (or whatever the popular peer to peer is at the time).

The way I see it is I paid to have a copy of the software. If I can't get it the way I'm supposed to, I WILL get it somehow.

I also just started this game after getting on sale for a few bucks recently. Totally worth it.

And by it, I don't mean the money. At this point, it's "what games are worth out time" since we have so many dirt cheap games in our library. Sufficient to say, Just Cause 2 is worth it. If anyone else has it in their plethora of unplayed games, give it a shot.

If Steam ever had financial problems, it would be one hell of a purchase for EA/Origin or even MS. The publishers themselves can not expire a license that was already purchased. The only thing they may do is prevent future sales like what EA did.

I have 18 games. Only three are installed (Dirt 3, CSGO, CSS). CSGO gets all my attention currently.

I don't game much at all though. If I hadn't had my vacation cut two weeks short I wouldn't have even touched CSGO(90 hours total) over this winter break and racked up any hours. (26.1 hours in last two weeks) That's less than I imagined. It feels like I play it a lot more.

I've been a much more intense gamer, but I do other things with my time these days I guess.

I am married and have kids so I know my time is limited. I used to want to play games just so I can say I have played them and comment on them but now, I just play the games I want to and don't really care if I play the hottest games on the market, same with movies. My cut is usually only movies and video games that get excellent reviews. Also, since I have dropped the peer presure angle, I usually save tons of money because I buy most games when they are old. The only two games I have spent $60 on in the last two years was BF3 Premium and Skyrim.

80 games [quite a few are Valve titles], 16 of which I have not yet been installed [8 of those are new games from the recent Xmas Sale], and about 8 I've played but not finished.

Patience has definitely "paid off" as I can wait until "hot titles" go on sale during these events [STEAM, GMG, etc].

150+ games. Like many I have not played most of them.
I could have played a lot more, but I've avoided many intentionally.
Doing the YT thing, I'd like to record my gameplay & put it online.
Well, my computer fucking sucks too much to record anything, with either decent frame rates while recording, or the recording itself turns out like crap.
Soooo many games I want to play & am waiting until I can build a new computer powerful enough to record stuff.
I really don't know how the LP community has yet to figure out a decent capture card/capture device configuration.
