I bought it, didn't really get to fly it much. It took a good beating from the ground. I would bet I flew for all of combined 4 minutes before it had to be retired. I glued it so many times to be able to keep flying it, but the final crash was its last when the wing seperated from the body. A warning though this is tricky to fly. It pulls to the right, and doesn't climb very well unless you have the CG just right.

Not sure of all the differences between the $49.99 KB version and the $29.99 JCPenney version, but the JCPenney version doesn't come with a charger, whereas the KB version does.

The JCpenney's plane does in fact come with a charger, as I purchased one and have used it.

However the charger that this plane (the Penney's version is the exact same as KB Toys, Walmart, etc version) comes with is a charger that holds 6 D cell batteries to supply power. So you have to keep purchasing new D cells to recharge the planes battery. I have flown and charged the plane's battery about 10 times thus far and the original D cells I bought are still going strong. So they seem to last a good long while.

In the original thread on the plane (linked above) there is a link to RCgroups.com, that goes to a huge thread discussing the Stealth Bomber.

In my opinion the plane is great for learning the basics of RC flight. Its cheap, easy to fly, and very durable. However it is essentially just a toy when compared to real RC planes. But for $33 shipped, its a heck of a lot of fun.

How recently did you purchase it from JCPenney? Are you sure they didn't change the package when they lowered the price, because it clearly states that it doesn't come with the charger. I would like to get in on this, but I'm not sure I want to do it if it doesn't come with the charger.

Daid, it does come with the charger. But like Boley said the charger uses D cells as power source. This charger kinda heavy but it make it portable. You can fly for like 5 minutes and the battary start to die, so it's nice that this charger is right on hand to recharge it back up real quick (max charge time on the charger is 15 mins). :) I got one too for $35 last month from JCPenny.

It's fun to fly but this is a glider so it doesn't go up very fast. And just a note, 200 foot range isn't far so don't let your plane go too far. Best if you fly this in a baseball field and with clearance because these plane do attract to trees and other opsticals that will cause it to self-destruct.

For broken wing, I used clear packing tape. It works wonder.

Ordered one a few days ago....

Expecting it on Saturday. I'll let you know if it includes a charger. Other people have ordered it from JCPenney as well and said they did in fact recieve the charger.

I ordered it about 2 weeks ago. However the JCpenney's site has always said it does not come with a charger. If you read the RCgroups thread linked to in the original post, you will see that many months ago this exact same question was asked (because the site has always said "charger not included").

I can only assume they say there is no charger because it does not really come with a standard charger. Just one that takes batteries to operate.

Thanks for the feedback. I, too, have always wanted one of these. I know it is more of a "toy", but for all of the flying I will do this should be perfect! :)

You can probably avoid paying for batteries by hooking up the charger to a 12volt outlet (cigaretter lighter) on your car with some alligator clips and 12v plug.

BTW: HOw many D cells does the charger hold?

How are the controls on this? Does it climb and steer or just steer?

It takes 6 D cells.

I modified mine to take AA cells. It's quite easy to do that.

About the pulling to the right problem, you have to reroute the
receiver antenna wire so that it's equally distributed on both sides.
Trivial to do.

I have flown mine only 2 times so far. It's very sensitive to wind
and also sensitive to CG. Some folks are recommending that
the ball bearing in the nose be removed and the battery moved
further ahead for better balancing and handling.

Fly it only in a BIG grass field. Will last longer.

For those of you willing to experiment after you have broken your stealth,
check out these plans. http://www.rcsail.com/beetle.htm

Which I believe can be modified a bit to put in the 2 props in place to have
a home made stealth plane.

Highly Recommended X-EC DIVERSION

I have flown RC planes for many years but very little the last 10 years. These new (to me) RC Ready To Fly RTF planes look like fun. After reading these posts I got the fever again so I bought the X-EC DIVERSION at a Hobby Show here's the link:

I was able to buy it for $60. The reason I selected this model is because of its layout. The layout is typical of a free flight hand launch gilder which is very stable and will self right itself. Plus this model was very light which is a prerequiste for good flying especially for a beginner flyer. I also liked the fact that the charger was built into the remote controller and only required 6 AA batteries.

Flying
This little flyer is a ton of fun. The onboard battery recharges in about 3 minutes and gets hot as heck. Lauching was straight and true and I was amazed at its climbout. Turning was leisurely but controllable. I cruised around awhile then I let it glide. When gliding, directional control was reduced since the motors where at idle. If I needed to turn quickly I just put the power to it and it was fine. Where I was flying it was very tight (out the front door) and I had to stay on my toes. I recommend a ball field for first flights. I don't know how long it flies, I just kept climbing, gliding, and landing. Recharging is amazingly fast. Well one morning I decided to put in a quick flight before work and sure enough I parked it in a tree. Unfortunately when I shook it out of the tree it dove straight down and I tried to catch it. I ripped the wing pretty good but it was easily repaired with a light smear of epoxy. This is a great little plane to learn some of the basics and get the fever for more.

TIPS
For those of you having difficulty controlling your plane remember that it does not steer like a car. If you hold down left or right, the turn will get tighter and tighter. In areal plane you establis a turn then neutralize the controls. Since this is a miniture airplane it behaves the same way. So once you establish a turn get off the controller. As it starts to rollout just blip the control again. It is better to pulse, blip the controller in a turn, blipping more frequently if you need to tighen up the turn, less to widen. Also remember to turn your body with the plane so your always pointed in the same direction. Its better to look over your shoulder at an oncoming plane rather then figure out that an approaching plane will react opposite then what you expect.

thanks for getting me started again. How do you post links within your reply? Once I post a link any text following the link does't show in the preview?

I bought a gas-powered air plane a few years ago. I never put it together because it needed a remote and some servos. The remote and servos costed like $200.00. Anybody knows of a good place to find the remote and servos?

Receiver/Tx and servo combo at servocity.com for about 150 odd bucks.

BTW, I got rid of the ball bearing from the Stealth and it now flies like
a dream. It glides on it's own.
