I think when you make a clear effort to steal? I've never intended to steal pens but they just end up in my house. I'll take 5 at a time and stuff them on my desk and inevitably 1 will disappear every 2 weeks. THey'll end up in my car, and then my desk at home.

I draw the line when you're taking 5 pens out from the cabinet and then stuffing them in your bag with the intent of taking them home. That's just too much.

I also have some extra products in my car or desk. Sometimes for engineering samples I build an extra or two because inevitably you have issues where you scrap sometimes due to a mistake. I'd rather not end up with too few samples to test so there's always a buffer of 1 or 2 units I build in. Occasionally I keep some of them as samples on my desk, but over time I get a few extras that just end up in the house.

I've printed some things, but that's about it. I even bring my own stuff to use here like my stapler, my pen, and my monitor.

I do remember working in a kitchen once; we were doing our prep in the morning and the managers grabbed one guy and fired him about two hours into the shift. He left, then they both left to grab breakfast or something.

Dude came back with a giant garbage bag and filled it up with pretty much all of the steaks from the fridge, grabbed a couple of bottles of our cooking brandy and maybe something else, not sure, then walked out. He was way bigger than any of us and kind of a scary druggie, so we all just kind of watched him do it then told the managers after who called the cops. Not sure if anything came of it but it was kind of crazy to watch.

reem of paper so that I could print a return out at home.

I also stole a partner's e-signature so that I could put it on internal memos. It's fun to create memos like "Singing In Your Cubicle Is Against Firm Policy" and leaving them at your friends desk.

In honor of this thread, I just printed 20 duplex pages at work and swiped an envelope.

Whatever -- the amount of paper wasted because of errors and because a manager wanted to see a 50 page document for 5 minutes at a meeting is obscene. I'm usually the person making all of it.
