Stealing DSS? (No, not asking HOW)

A co-worker of mine mentioned that he has been "Stealing" Satellite service for the past couple weeks from DSS.. He mentioned that he has a new card which does not need to be reprogramed, and therefor cannot be shut off.. Anyone know if this is really possible? I think he is full of crap but he insists he is getting every channel 100% free of charge..

Please don't post messages on HOW to do it, etc.. I am just wondering if this sort of thing can really be done, or if he is full of it...

Yes it can be. In the back of the DSS system you have to put in a little keycard, there's ways of programming your own keycards or buying them from people and they'll let you get pay-per-view for free and all the other channels. I've never done it myself so I can't vouch for the actual functionality, but I know it's feasible.

Yes those "Funny Cards" are sometimes called "Test Cards" the idea being that you buy one...use it for 6 years and then you know your system is running correctly and you can now fork over $14:95 a month for the basic programming package.....I'm on year 4 ..so far, so good...:D

DSS changes the code every 4-6 months so you continuously have to either reprogram the cards or upgrade them. DSS are working on a daily code change system so it's only a matter of time now. But I do hate people who gloat to kids that "they can get ALL the channels for free" when actually there STEALING ALL the channels, nice lesson to teach kids.

I know several people that steal their satellite service. It is feasible, but I don't know about getting one that doesn't have to be reprogrammed. I thought you had to geta new every 6 months or so. But what do I know I have never fooled with it myself.

There's DSS cards that don't need to be reprogrammed? Never heard of that. Are they still working? My guess is probably not. That ECM a couple nights ago pretty much wiped out all of the "test H cards". Oh well, it was nice while it lasted. :(

Last ECM?? DSS uses Electronic Counter Measures? Wat they do? Drop flares or chaff from one of the orbiting satellites?

or do they use electronic bullets like the cable companies?

They are smart to what is going on with the programmed cards, usually get fried after 3 months. At least that is what I have heard form people around here using these.

My aunt had one (legally) for three months while she was on maternity leave (she was bedridden) from Hughes, the cards are pretty nifty.
