Steak scam???

I usually have those magazine kids come around at least once a month.

I have heard about the speakers out of the back trucks.

Anyone heard of a steak scam?

I just answered my door and there was a guy with his truck. He had a freezer in the back of his truck. He said he had a really good deal on steaks and wanted to sell me some.

I told him no thanks but I have never seen or heard about something like this before. It was a plain white truck with no markings. Like hell I am going to buy steaks from some unknown person.

Its legit, not a scam, but they can be very pushy. Sometimes they'll barter and you can actually get a hell of a deal.

I don't know if it's a scam but they are frozen steaks that end up costing 20-50% more than the grocery store.

Here is one tip that, if followed, will do a great deal to help keep you from being scammed:

NEVER buy anything from anyone who approaches you first.

Oh, and along the same lines, never donate to any charity that approaches you first.

And I never do 🙂

yea, i had some guy offer to sell various cuts of meat from the back of his freezer truck. he had seafood also. the prices were alright.

a guy like that come around my neighborhood and stopped by the house once or twice, he sells all sorts of meats and cuts, but are extremely expensive and i cant notice a difference between his steaks and the grocery stores' steaks

I'll tell you what's a scam. Safeway and their d@mn Rancher's Reserve. Their old brand was just as good and about half the price! Safeway = Extortion!

they came to my place about a year ago

3 scruffy young guys in a white box truck with a freezer in the back

he showed me the meat, there were only 3 boxes of meats in the freezer

His approach was "Hey you like steak?"

First thing I'd ask [in a situations as fishy as this] is to see their business license [and permit if local requires it]. Ask them what USDA grade of beef are they selling. What is the country of origin on the beef? I believe any beef that is for sale to the public has to be certified for wholesomeness and saleability by the USDA/FDA.

They [well some, invariably there will be some who will try to scam this market] are legit, but its just like any other door-to-door salespeople (with the exception of girl scout cookies, they never lie), a lot of talk and marketing strategies to sell a lesser product.
