no.

the concept isn't win either because there is no way it can be executed in a manner other than fail.

We had one here in Vegas next to UNLV. It lasted a whole 2 months before the doors closed up for good.

Exactly. Anyone that thinks they can get a good steak delivered how no freaking idea what a good steak tastes like.

Wrong. Technology simply doesn't exist to make it happen (ie: matter-energy teleportation). The CONCEPT is perfect.

If a concept is good, but the ability to implement it properly doesn't exist... then the concept is FLAWED.

Unless they have BBQ grills in the delivery trucks, and a chef cooking the steak to order as they drive... DELIVERY STEAK is gonna be either under cooked... or shoe leather.

Therefore it is FAIL either way.

The delivery time is a killer if they pack it up and drive it straight to you as soon as it comes off the grill, maybe...

We sometimes get outback curbside takeaway, and after the 15 minute drive home, the steak is already just warm, still good, but just warm.

Only works if the they have a van with a grill in it and cook it outside your place.

Why wouldn't it work? It's not like you can eat the steak as soon as it comes off the grill. Steaks need rest time.

Actually, you are wrong. A steak needs to "rest" for about 5 minutes after it is cooked. IF the steak could be delivered within 5 minutes of being made and on the table, the concept could work.

Unless they limit their delivery area to 2 blocks or less... the time it takes to get it off the grill... into tin foil .. into a bag... into a drivers hands.. and start the truck... you're looks at 3-4 minutes already.

Who says it has to be exactly 5 minutes. That's the minimum time required. You can eat it 15-20 minutes later and it's still perfectly fine.

Well.. technically, it depends on the steak, desired temperature and thickness.

Rare: 1-2 minutes per side - rest for 6-8 minutes
Medium rare: 2-2.5 minutes per side - rest for 5 minutes
Medium: 3 minutes per side - rest for 4 minutes
Well done: 4.5 minutes per side - rest for 1 minute

As Medium Rare is the "proper" way to eat a good steak.. 5 minute rest is the norm.

But by your argument, then places like Applebees are a fail. If you want a good steak, you do it yourself.

However, many many many people eat steak from Applebees and I am 100% sure you could surpass an Applebee's steak via delivery.

I disagree Guyver.
Concept I propose: Being nice to another person makes you feel good.
Matter I implement it: I smack you on the side of the head and say, "Good Morning Guyver."

The concept here is to make someone feel good. For this arguements sake let's agree that it's a good concept. But the way I implement it is not good. Causing you physical harm does not make you feel good. You probably would want to kick my ass afterwards. But the concept, to make another person feel good, is not flawed. The delivery vehicle that I implement the concept is.

Still, if I want a steak, I'm buying a porterhouse from my wife's uncle (a butcher who owns his own shop) and turning on my grill, waiting until the grill is up to around 500 degrees, and throwing it on for 4 minutes a side.

Crapplebees is fail. If i want a good steak.. i do it myself.

i'm a little confused by your counterpoint.

Unfortunately gotta agree. Steak, it's epic win. Getting a good steak in a good place, even more win. Cooking your own steak, especially on a wood fire grill, unfathomable amounts of win. Getting a steak that was cooked 15 minutes ago delivered is definite epic fail.

Simple point. 99% of americans don't know how to cook a good steak, nor do they go to places that have decent steaks.

"If a concept is good, but the ability to implement it properly doesn't exist... then the concept is FLAWED.

Compared to 90% of the restaurants out there, you could deliver a steak that was superior to steaks you can get unless you cook it yourself.

You are taking the black and white approach. If it isn't as good as a steak you cook yourself, it is fail. I don't think you have any evidence that it is fail. Is cooking it correctly at your home superior? Absolutely, but that doesn't mean it is fail.

So to end, the concept of steak delivery is solid. The implementation is fail. You could have a steak delivered that is as good if not better than most other steaks unless cooked yourself. I don't see that as fail.
