I'm using my S3 Trio64V+ to get me by while my 7800GT is out for stepup to a 7900GT. But I'm getting an error in hardware devices that I havent been able to pin-point down yet-

This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

I have palette snooping enabled and init PCI first enabled. I'm not sure what else to do. I only have one other PCI device in my PC and its a Linksys 802.11G NIC for my WRT54G.
The NIC is currently disabled as I only use the wireless when I take the PC out of the house.

No other PCI/PCIE devices are in the system besides these two cards.
Mobo is a NF4 (DFI).

Ideas on whats causing this "conflict"?

I suppose I'll be fixing this one myself as well since the only person who seems to have any knowledge of video cards prior to the ~R300 seems to be Peter.. :disgust:

I'd forgotten some of these CLI commands but thankfully they do come to me after smacking my head against the table a few times.

IRQ 3 S3 Trio32/64
IRQ 3 Built-in Infrared Device

I/O Port 0x00000000-0x000003AF PCI bus
I/O Port 0x00000000-0x000003AF Direct memory access controller

IRQ 20 NVIDIA(R) nForce(TM) Audio Codec Interface
IRQ 20 NVIDIA nForce4 Serial ATA Controller
IRQ 20 NVIDIA Network Bus Enumerator

I/O Port 0x00006000-0x0000FFFF PCI bus
I/O Port 0x00006000-0x0000FFFF nForce4 PCI-Express Root Port

Memory Address 0xA0000-0xBFFFF PCI bus
Memory Address 0xA0000-0xBFFFF VgaSave

I/O Port 0x000003B0-0x000003DF PCI bus
I/O Port 0x000003B0-0x000003DF VgaSave

Memory Address 0xFEB00000-0xFEBFFFFF PCI bus
Memory Address 0xFEB00000-0xFEBFFFFF Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller

I/O Port 0x00000290-0x0000030F Motherboard resources
I/O Port 0x00000290-0x0000030F Motherboard resources

So looks like I need to be finding out whatever this 'built in infrared device' is.

Woot! Once this is done, 1280x1024 here we come and maybe a touch of acceleration beyond what 'VgaSave' offers (absolutely nothing but a output port out the back of the video card).

Maybe try using a card that isnt 10 years old? :)

I used to have that exact card in my Pentium 120 :B

Last time I had an STB branded anything, it was probably on an ISA interface, not even PCI! DOS and WfWG 3.11 . . juggling IRQ's, Config Sys, Aaack!

Last STB card i had was a AGP TNT, not long before they were bought out by 3DFX. It was a good card too :D.
