Staying at the Venetian in Las Vegas... what's it like?

Okay, so I looked up Polo Towers and was kinda scared by what I saw... kinda sketchy, not very romantic. I'm going to give the room to some friends who are driving over from AZ (free room for them, they can't complain!) and went ahead and booked a room at the Venetian for me and a guest.

I've never stayed at the Venetian before, and I can't recall walking around it... is the hotel nice? I'll only be staying one night, August 2nd (Saturday night)... it only cost $119 for a luxury suite w/a king size bed.

Hopefully I can score some coupons to see one of the Cirque du Solei shows... :) There are plenty of "what is there to do in Vegas?" threads, so I'll be printing all those out before I go.

Just called... apparently it's 650 square feet, sunken living room, 200+ square foot marble bathroom... :Q Much nicer than expected, for that price on a Saturday!

LOL! You're staying at one of the nicest places in Vegas and your friends are staying at Polo Towers. HAHAHAHAHA! They're going to hate you. ;)

i was just there with a friend last month. i got the same room you did. it has 2 tvs, a mini bar (careful moving stuff around its weight sensitive), dining area, sitting area, and the bathroom rocks. it has dual sinks, and a little makeup area with mirror and chair to the side for the chick. it has a tub and a shower. the shower has a mirror right across from it which can be... interesting.

get room service at least one night. the food is excellent. um i think thats it.

what else you want to know? :)

It's one of the newer, nicer, gigantic hotels. It's towards the middle/north end of the Strip.

The inside is very nice, I didn't stay there but we walked around. It's got a "canal" running through it complete with little bridges and gondoliers. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Venetian is arguably the second best hotel in vegas (behind the Bellagio).

The reason it is cheap is because the summer is somewhat of a down time for Vegas. I'm surprised they let you only book one night though. most of the larger hotels do not allow a saturday arrival nor less than two night stay.

have fun!

EDIT: By the way Dezign, I met Slug (of Atmosphere) and Murs (of Living Legends) on Tuesday. :D Very cool guys.

Nice choice, good central location on the strip.

The Luxor was so-so but located towards the END of the strip.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I'm so excited... :D:D:D Thank you so much... wheeeeeeeeee... :D This may be one of the few times where I'll be tempted to spend more of my time indoors than out! Um... what would you recommend getting from room service? :)

ActPrincess, there's a coupon code at biddingfortravel I found (I thought it had already expired). I clicked on it for the heckuvit, and to my surprise, it still worked! I just called the hotel to confirm, and everything's all set. :)

The casino at the Venetian was kind of dull to me personally and wasn't nearly as busy as some of the other major hotels. But it was a VERY nice place to walk around in and I'm sure the rooms were spectacular (we were originally going to stay there, but stayed at the Mirage and the Bellagio instead.) If you get one facing the Strip you'll have a great view of the Mirage and the volcano although I doubt the $119 rooms face the Strip (but it doesn't hurt to ask at check-in which is how I got us upgraded to Pool/Strip view for free at the Mirage.

We personally did most of our gambling (in that area of the Strip) at Caesars and the Mirage. Treasure Island was nice too and had lower limits in comparison to the other two. The drink girls at Caesars were second to none, however.

Stayed there once. Very nice rooms, three beds and two baths. Service was excellent and prompt. They even had two tvs.

I stayed there for a week in March. It was awesome. Rooms are big. Two 27" TVs. Bathroom is humongous. They furnished a little apartment frig at no cost.

They're doing some construction on it so we moved our second day to not be bothered by it. But, when are they not building/expanding in LV?

Because it's about 500 degrees outside most of the time. It was scorching when I was there last June.

Yeah, my wife's parents stayed there when my wife and I got married in Vegas. They had a really nice suite that sounds just like what you described. You'll love it. :D

BTW, we stayed at Caesar's Palace on a weekend as well when we got married. It was only about $120 per night for a really nice suite similar to what my wife's parents had at the Venetian.

I stayed in one of their biggest suites once.

--> CLASSY!

Not as plush or bourgeouis as the Bellagio but very nice, IMO and I've stayed at a LOT of nice hotels.

Caesars was probably our favorte place on the Strip. Very upscale yet not as pretentious as a place like the Bellagio. I definitely want to stay there next time. I've heard the Forum Tower is the place to be there with rooms that rival the Bellagio and the Venetian. Personally, I didn't think our room at the Bellagio was all that much nicer than our room at the Mirage except for the huge bathroom which is kind of similar to the Venetian. Of course, all 4 of those (along with Mandalay Bay) are probably the pimpiest of the major Strip casinos.
