I am thinking about which os to run, I have a lot of games and other softare, but nothing very old or to odd ball. right now io have a p II 450@518 with 512 megs or ram and an ATI AIW Radeon videocard. I know i will get a boost with 2000, but i am concered with 2 things, first i was under teh impression that it does not handel multiamedia appswiteh teh same relative ease of windows me. and that there are some software compatibality issues. Can someone who has Windows 2000 give me some adivice, I am going back to school for my second senior year (college, not high school) and would like a fresh start so to speak. So teh question is what will windows 200 do for me, as compared to ME, will my games still run, and also what about windows XP?

If you question your games running, try NT Compatible.com. Some have better luck with some games than others, some modifications to your OS may need to be made. Win2k is very stable, if you have decent hardware and appropriate drivers. If anything, try dual booting with both, and test any software that you may question.

Hey man..

I'd say use Win2k.. I haven't had a single problem running any game at all.. it is much more stable over winME as well.. goto that site Commish recommened as you will see most everything will work fine in win2k :D

I've been hearing really nice things about XP, it also runs off the win 200 kernel if my memory stands correct.

Win2K is a much better operating system than ME. After you install Win2k, make sure you install SP-2. Then install your apps & games.

Unless you're running DOS or games made around the win95 era (and some of them work too) go ahead and use win2k. Any old games you have that don't work will easily be balanced out by the stability of your OS. Seriously, stick it on and see what I mean. :)
