STAY AWAY FROM SAPPHIRE 5770 Vapor-x

Well I wanted Dirt two. The 5770 vapor from sapphire reviews showed the coupon included for free download. I had an itch that said it wasn't so, I didn't listen.

After writing sapphire the coupons are included with full retail cards not sold in the USA and with 5800 series cards. Customer support was very fast BTW.

Very poor and deceptive by sapphire, they have lost a customer.

Be warned.

I did a quick check and it seems MSI is the only vendor including the Dirt2 at the 5770 level.

Probably a limited time only.

I don't think it's deceptive if it was never listed or showed when you purchased the card. I know ATI is encouraging vendors to include it with their 5xxx cards, but whether they do or not is up to the vendor. Most all have included it with the 58xxx+ cards, but seem to be packaging them differently with the 57xxx series.
I'm betting models with the coupon will cost more.
I got a a 5770 for 150 though so I'm happy if I could save $10 even without the game.

A few reviews. Every review mentions the game included.
So you find review sites based or HQ'd on continents different from your own, but are miffed that the bundle described in said reviews is different?

Do you similarly purchase from USA retailers based on the information you find browsing the websites of overseas retailers? 🙄

I can see it now..."All the review sites [in the United Kingdom] show the steering wheel located on the right side of the car, but when I purchased the car here in the USA, the steering wheel was located on the left side of the car. I think its deceptive advertising."

Well, I don't know why you guys are so harsh to him. I can understand his disappointment. (but not to the point to 'stay away' from the cards) Especially if he was looking forward to playing it. It's $30~40 value if you were to pay for it.

Reviews showed the game with the card, which means that's how Sapphire sent the card to the reviewers. His search should perhaps have been more thorough prior to the purchase but I wouldn't say he doesn't have a cause at all. If anything it serves as a caution for potential buyers who may consider the game as part of the bundle - Dirt2 promotion w/ HD5000 series cards is over.

Hey,

I'm a big boy. Just thought I'd post and let everyone know. I still think it's deceptive. No matter how many +1's are against me. Guess everyone knows where all these websites are?

The card is being returned tomorrow. XFX on the way.

Seriously. He still has a great card, but when a company says one thing and does another that's bad business.

Dude from my checks it was the MSI that is still offering the dirt coupon. Unless it's old stock an XFX will not come with it.

Today we will be looking at the Sapphire HD 5770. Selling for $175 USD (or $160 USD without the included Dirt 2 game)
From Neoseeker.

From a Newegg review of the card:
Other Thoughts: This review does not speak to the virtues of the card, but rather to this product packaging in particular. The product being sold here (perhaps SKU 100283VXL) includes no software. Be forewarned that only SKU 21163-00-50R includes the Dirt2 voucher. (See the manufacturer’s website.)

From the Hexus article:
Sapphire tends to split the packaging into the full-retail model (11163-00-50R), as shown here and a more-basic package that's bereft of a few goodies (11163-00-20R). Expect to see the latter in the UK.

Seems to me like there are a number of things stating there are different SKUs, and some have Dirt 2 while some don't.
That these websites all got the ones with Dirt 2 and only some mentioned that there are SKUs without it is not the fault of Sapphire, but of those reviews which failed to note the different SKUs.

Man, when I read that headline I thought you were going to say how Sapphire lied about heating issues and now your home is a pile of still smoldering rubble
