What kind of improvement in fps and quality have you noticed?
I just use it for my videos of my kids, so the quality of the original video is not that good, so I can't really tell. But for my purpose speed and quality for h.265 5000kb/s HD encoding, seems comparable to nvenc encoding of my GTX 1070. About 6-8 times faster than my CPU.

You can also try and learn ffmpeg, since that's what most front-ends use and most of these programs are just front-ends.

There is also a japanese fellow that made command line tools for all three AMD/intel/Nvidia
Yes, it is just a GUI for ffmpeg and the other encoders, which works one for my limited needs. If I had more advanced projects I would go into the finer details.
